Ethno Germany 2016 took place at Castle Lichtenberg in Thallichtenberg/Rhineland-Palatinate from August 11-20.

ETHNO invites young people from different countries and cultures to join making music based on the traditional music of their cultural backgrounds in a free and open minded way.
ETHNO addresses young musicians of the traditional folk and jazz scene as well as musicians with a classical orientation who are looking for new and refreshing motivation.
ETHNO is a unique combination of workshops, jam sessions and performances in which the participants get to know a variety of musical styles and, with the support of the artistic leaders, invent new tunes on their own.
ETHNO means living and learning together in the way oral music traditions are passed on directly from person to person.
ETHNO is a programme of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) aiming at an intercultural understanding that enables exchange between European, Arab, African, Asian and American regions.
ETHNO regularly takes place in Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and had events in Cyprus, India, Uganda - and since 2013 Ethno also resides in Germany!
ETHNO is continuously and with great dedication being developed by the Ethno Committee of JMI. The Committee connects all Ethno initiatives world-wide.
