Thanks. I thought you had to play the tutorial to proceed to link data but you showed how to do it properly. Thankfully, the link data overwrote the stuff I did on Steam already. This works on Steam Deck too btw, at least if you logged in using your Steam account
It seems that I have the problem that I have my backup saved to an account I logged in with gmail, but I also have an SE account where I logged in with steam. So I can't unlink the steam from the one account because I used it as the login method. But on the phone I also can't connect my data to my steam account because there the login with steam does not work. Do you maybe know any solution for my problem?
I have the game on Steam, but ORIGINALLY had it on my iPad months ago. I want to link my Apple data with Steam, but what I want to know is what does this do exactly? Will it MERGE both accounts into one, carrying my Apple gems and other stuff and simply adding it to my Steam version or will it replace my Steam data with what I have on mobile? Note: I was an early adopter so I have a ton of pre-registration stuff on my Apple account, but I have far nicer pulls and items on Steam. If I link my Apple account, what happens? Does my Apple account overwrite everything, or will it merge with my Steam stuff and I keep both inventories?
Good questions. So if you have the game on your iPad, what you would want to do is step one, which is to make sure the game is setup with a data link using your iPad. You can setup the data link in ANY way you want on there. Be it through an email account, steam account, square enix account, whatever. When you go to play the game on Steam, at the title screen before doing ANYTHING, you want to link the data by logging in to the same exact account. This video like I had mentioned is SPECIFICALLY for linking gmail accounts through Steam. If you use something like a Square Enix account, you dont have to jump through all these hoops and can setup the data link simply by logging in. One the data link is setup, NOTHING is overwritten. All the data link does is link that device to that game account as long as you dont reset the data. Even if you reset the data on a device, the account is not lost. You simply re-datalink from the title screen and you can continue from any device. All of your account information is stored server side, so once you do the data link, its permanent. This is how I switch between 2 different accounts, my main and F2P, on the same device. If you have the same account linked onto two different devices, you can access the game with either device at any time without the need to do the data link again as that device is already registered to that account. So say you want it on Steam for when you are home and on your phone when you are away, you simply data link both to the same account and that's it.
I have another video where I go over this. You aren't actually transferring the game, but able to connect to the account from multiple devices. You just cant be on that account with 2 devices at the same time. For instance I have the PC version and 2 different phones able to access the same account at any given time.
How do I start a game and upload the new save data for cross save? I can "reset game data" which deletes the local save, but when I link data, it just redownloads the old save.
So, my husband has been having issues with this whole process through steam and idk how or why but the screen that shows he successfully backed up his data never happened. It prompted him to create a square enix account and he did but then it just skips to the choose account and when he clicks on square enix it says no data accociated. He tried linking it to his steam and that worked but again, it says no data accociated. How do I get it to back up again? Or do I have to contact customer service? It seems like that's the only option at this point as I've tried everything else...
It sounds like he may be going about it in the improper order. If he's already started the game, he will need to link the account while he is in the game and playing. From that point on you can play on that account from any device once you connect that device to the account from the title screen, NOT the main menu. i cant link from my steam account to gmail account bc i cant login trough steam browser, it gives me " the browser is not secure to login with" issue.
