Not trying to burst your bubble, it's DEO VINDICE
That way gets modern day yankees all bent out of shape!
I've had to go back and proofread my text, sometimes before, and sometime after posting. Then correct my mistake.

@ I know better. Thanks, must have been a typo.

@ You also helped me with a question I asked on History Gone Wilder. I asked if the picture of Early was pre or post war. You mentioned he had the star in his hat. I had to go back and watch it to see it. In the picture it was very subtle. Thanks.

Ranger Matt adds a human face to these men who suffered unimaginably, physically and mentally to serve there cause. This was one of the best descriptive explanations of a troubled person who I truely never knew and truely feel bad for him. Unimaginable horror, stress and suffering they all dealt with. Matt you took this character to another level and in doing so have endeared yourself again to all us who love that period of time. Well done sir!

Matt and Stuffwriter are like Penn and Teller. Matt entertains us, and Stuffwriter quietly , emphasis on quietly, makes it available for us to see.

The tangents that go into left field of the topic are the most interesting to me. The backstory, witness accounts, etc. are what paints the picture. A lecture that is just a spoken Wikipedia article misses the details.

Excellent lecture, Matt. The "Queen of the Underworld" (shown at 13:55) is likely Madame Jane Winslow of 73 Mercer Street, Manhattan. I have spent years researching her extraordinary life and also some of her famous clients.

Excellent presentation as usual from Matt.
I didn't realize how sick Hill was by the Spring of 1865. It may be that he wouldn't have long survived the War.

As always a great lecture by Matt - but I could have gone a lifetime not knowing about the treatment of the STDs in the 1860's...

Good show. I think there is a link between gonorrhea and prostrate cancer. And if Hill had cancer, it most likely spread.

How is it that someone who gives lectures on military subjects does not know the difference between caValry (mounted soldiers) and caLvary (the hill where Jesus was crucified). This lecturer keeps saying the latter.

6:27 at 16 years old. Oh this is the funniest thing I've heard ever. He references then his own 16-year-old son and leaves a pregnant paws for the audience to fill in. Well done well played
