Not trying to burst your bubble, it's DEO VINDICE That way gets modern day yankees all bent out of shape! I've had to go back and proofread my text, sometimes before, and sometime after posting. Then correct my mistake.
@ You also helped me with a question I asked on History Gone Wilder. I asked if the picture of Early was pre or post war. You mentioned he had the star in his hat. I had to go back and watch it to see it. In the picture it was very subtle. Thanks.
Ranger Matt adds a human face to these men who suffered unimaginably, physically and mentally to serve there cause. This was one of the best descriptive explanations of a troubled person who I truely never knew and truely feel bad for him. Unimaginable horror, stress and suffering they all dealt with. Matt you took this character to another level and in doing so have endeared yourself again to all us who love that period of time. Well done sir!
The tangents that go into left field of the topic are the most interesting to me. The backstory, witness accounts, etc. are what paints the picture. A lecture that is just a spoken Wikipedia article misses the details.
Excellent lecture, Matt. The "Queen of the Underworld" (shown at 13:55) is likely Madame Jane Winslow of 73 Mercer Street, Manhattan. I have spent years researching her extraordinary life and also some of her famous clients.
Ranger Matt Atkinson is an Excellent Educator and Storyteller. I try to watch as many of his lecture and battle walk videos as I can find. Hope to meet him and shake his hand someday.
Excellent presentation as usual from Matt. I didn't realize how sick Hill was by the Spring of 1865. It may be that he wouldn't have long survived the War.
Where does Ranger Matt get these antiquated words? Slathered Trollops? 😂🤣😅 That sounds like a dish on a French bistro menu... not a house of ill repute! Too funny
Thanks for sharing. I love to see everything about General AP Hill and made this video of his gravesite at the intersection, his death site, Fort AP Hill, etc. ruclips.net/video/WxNNGBEZkuU/видео.html
How is it that someone who gives lectures on military subjects does not know the difference between caValry (mounted soldiers) and caLvary (the hill where Jesus was crucified). This lecturer keeps saying the latter.
6:27 at 16 years old. Oh this is the funniest thing I've heard ever. He references then his own 16-year-old son and leaves a pregnant paws for the audience to fill in. Well done well played
Ranger Matt is the best lecturer the NPS has in my opinion. Thanks for all you do. Always look forward to his lectures. DEO VINDICE!!!

@ I know better. Thanks, must have been a typo.

Another great presentation Matt and Stuffwriter. Matt you make learning about Gettysburg and civil war history very enjoyable and exciting.
Well said
So glad you make these lectures and battle walks available for the rest of us. Thanks!!
Thank you again stuffwriter. I desperately need to go back to gettysburg to listen to some of these lectures in person.
Matt and Stuffwriter are like Penn and Teller. Matt entertains us, and Stuffwriter quietly , emphasis on quietly, makes it available for us to see.
Thank you, Mr. StuffWriter! You have documented another great lecture from Ranger Matt.
Thanks always look forward to your videos. Especially with Ranger Matt.
Another superb lecture and presentation from the finest native son from Houston Mississippi and a Ole Miss History department graduate.
I was the guy sitting next to you yesterday, thanks for posting. Love what you do!
Great lecture!
It was standing room only
- guy standing behind the last row 😁

Thank You, Mr. Stuffwriter for your very well done videos!👏🤠👍

Thanks again, Stuffwriter.
Yes, I totally agree Matt, stuffwriter, have had more influence, regarding living history, than any high school history class ever had.
Chief Ranger Matt isa national treasure
.
Does Matt have a patch a wacky tobaccie in the Peach Orchard
I would love to see Matt do a Lecture on Kershaw's Brigade.
Great stuff!!!!
1:50:35 The AP Hill death marker is behind a trailer park some ways into the woods. I must go there one day
Is this a recent lecture? If so does anyone know why they aren’t updating the Gettysburg NPS RUclips channel anymore?
Disregard. I just heard mention of 2025.
Hill is a reminder that sometimes one bad decision does indeed ruin your life.
As always a great lecture by Matt - but I could have gone a lifetime not knowing about the treatment of the STDs in the 1860's...
Good show. I think there is a link between gonorrhea and prostrate cancer. And if Hill had cancer, it most likely spread.
Yo he’s back. Sup stuff

Where's ya whiskers? Matt, the cat done came and lick 'em off.
Or are you On The Hunt?
Matt, why did you shave off the mustache and goatee?
.....made you look like Augustus McCray. Lol!
At the beginning what does he mean? A health scare or something? Glad things are better. He's the best.
His computer screen was open and there was a colonoscopy file from 2023. Routine I'm sure.
Wondering the same thing, praying everything is OK.
S what was wrong with Matt? Now I’m concerned!!!
Matt shaved his goatee off.

Texas didn’t move Ohio State recently 😜
Matt spelled corps wrong.
They spell things differently in Mississippi 😂
What time stop or stamp?
I call it timestop, some folks call it timestamp.
The beard last week is gone!

Uninterrupted stupid silliness. Is this a comedy club?

Boys will be boys.
Shiloh is the biggest one I've been to.
