My favourites are: Darth Plagueis Bane's trilogy New Jedi Order Darth Vader's trilogy (Labyrinth of Evil, ROTS novel and Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader) Vision of the Future.
The Thrawn Trilogy is one of my absolute favorite trilogy of books ever. Since it introduced Mara Jade who is my favorite legend’s character in the first book Heir to the Empire I have a real soft spot for it. Some other great legend reads are Rouge Planet, the Prequel Trilogy novelizations (Ep. III by far the best), Darth Plagueis, Darth Maul Shadow Hunter, Cloak of Deception, Kenobi, Labyrinth of Evil, and Dark Lord the Rise of Vader. So far I’ve only read Master and Apprentice from the new canon which was excellent and I’m going to start on Brotherhood soon.
If you're looking for comics, the Knights of the Old Republic following the padawan massacre and Zayne Carrick is a fantastic run. I think I go and give a few of these a read (already read the Thrawn trilogy) after I complete Wheel of Time in the next few weeks (almost done with Towers of Midnight, and A Memory of Light remaining).
I love the old republic era, im happy bioware still able to create new content for their swtor games ^^ Also like that in legends the empire was still around for decades before coming to terms with the new republic and had their own official territory.
Awesome to see some love for the old EU/“Legends” from you man! Great picks for sure! Personally my favorite of the OG Thrawn Trilogy is Last Command for sure, since that’s when we see the fruits of his campaign and all the big arcs reach a conclusion. Especially Luke and Mara’s first meeting and the evolution of their relationship. Then after that there’s Hand of Thrawn and the New Jedi Order series which is a whole rabbit hole. For the Old Republic, my favorite piece of media from it is actually the comics starring Zayne Carrick, which is where that Revan scene comes from. Zayne’s a lot more of an underdog with a story that starts tragic but ends hopeful. Some interesting supporting characters and story. The games are all great for sure too though. Prequel era has a LOT of great stuff all around, especially with Clone Wars which actually has its own timeline Pre-TCW retocons that’s different but just as good. Another huge rabbit hole here with the 2003 animated series, Republic comics, Republic Commando stuff, then other novels like Shatterpoint, Dark Rendezvous and the big trilogy of Labyrinth of Evil, the Revenge of the Sith novelization and Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader. The last three especially are a must with how they call back to all the OG Clone Wars stories in Legends and pay them off while leading into and telling the story of ROTS and what happens immediately after.
One of my all time fav books i read was the Han Solo Trilogy. a 3 book series compiled into one. kinda covers Solos life from childhood to the moment that he spots Old Ben in the cantina. good riveting series imo
Man my top 5 would probably be, Revan, Master and Apprentice, Black spire outpost(a surprise to be sure but a welcome one), Shadow of the Sith and High Republic Into the Dark. Now it changes a lot this is just right now.
Thrawn is definitely a top choice, but favorite overall is probably the Yuuzhan Vong arc in spite of some of the tropes it falls back on I find the concept of an extragalactic race which refuses to bend to the rules of the Star Wars galaxy to be an amazing idea that probably should have been episodes 7-9
I haven’t started it yet cause I’m trying to buy all the books before I read them. I only need two more out of the 19 that’s in the series and I’m looking forward to it.
The cannon thrawn books are my favourite books of all time, not sure about the seccond one, personally i find it a bit slow, but the first thrawn book is just top notch quality
I've read all of them. Own all but the last three. Technically, the first four story arcs mentioned are still canon on the grounds that they were never replaced by anything, and their stories are referenced by the current canon.
Another good series is the Republic Commandos series (I can't really pick a favorite between all of them lol) if you have an interest in clones and their struggle to find a place in a galaxy that sees them as subhuman
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll check out Darth Bane and Revan later on this year. My top 5 SW books are Lost Stars, Revenge of the Sith, Dark Disciple, Darth Plagueis and Ahsoka.
Have you ever listened to the radio drama of the OT? Just packed with extra scenes, including a dinner with the Organa Family Obviously some things don't fit into canon but it's good it's cool
Another thing is that I not only feel that the Heir of the Empire Trilogy was the best books of the entire Star Wars Legends selection, but another book that should be highly praised from the collection was "Truce at Bakura." Having a story where Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, C-3PO, and Artoo have to lead a special task force to save an isolated Imperial planetary system from the clutches of an evil reptilian empire that used the souls of sentient beings to fuel their droid fighters while dealing with an Imperial governor whose motives were murky up until the end made some great reading. And to have an incredible battle against the odds between a Rebel Alliance-Imperial partnership against the Ssi-Ruu Imperium was quite a brilliant literary concept.
My 5 must reads: 1) Thrawn Trilogy & Hand of Thrawn Duology 2) Jedi Academy Trilogy 3) I, Jedi 4) Young Jedi Knights Series (specifically Lightsabers and The Shadow Academy Arc as a whole 5) The “Callista” Trilogy specifically Darksaber though I have a higher opinion of Children of the Jedi and Planet of Twilight than most…
Path of Destruction was an awesome book, though the part where Drew Karpyshyn kept using the term units to describe the Brotherhood forces instead of definitively giving them platoon, company, battalion, etc., designations did make it a little confusing. Other than that, I thought it was a great book on its own as well as being the first part of a great trilogy.
The original trilogy books weren't written by George Lucas. The Star Wars book was but Empire Strikes Back was written by Donald F Glut and Return of the Jedi by James Kahn (who also did the novelisation of the Goonies). I am literally looking right at them as I'm typing this
Legends took advantage of the opportunity to expand the star wars universe, and it did. Disney just threw all that lore away for their "creative freedom" but all they did was make a huge mess and now they're working to fix the mess they created which in my opinion, they'll never do. In the process, they're making even more messes like kenobi and the book of boba fett.
imo, Revan is a rather weak book, there are several dozen novels that are better. Scorge is the only reason why the book is not bad, but average, Revan himself is very pale.
My favourites are:
Darth Plagueis
Bane's trilogy
New Jedi Order
Darth Vader's trilogy (Labyrinth of Evil, ROTS novel and Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader)
Vision of the Future.
Revan is my favorite star wars character. I loved the book.
I hope you do more Legends content in the future
Imagine a Revan or Old Republic show
That would be the best idea ever just imagine
They are making a old republic show but we don't know exactly know when
The cutscenes basically are a show
But that would mean that they have to make something new and they won’t do that
@Shuri now that is hard to imagine
I also recommend the X-wing series. Seeing secondary characters getting fleshed out more.
The Thrawn Trilogy is one of my absolute favorite trilogy of books ever. 1. Republic Commando series (Such a shame it will never be fishished)
2. Survivors Quest
3. Thrawn trilogy
4. Darksaber
5. The Han Solo trilogy.
I love the old republic era, im happy bioware still able to create new content for their swtor games ^^ Also like that in legends the empire was still around for decades before coming to terms with the new republic and had their own official territory.

"Most people recognize the mask of revan"
That's because it's badass asf
Darth plagueis
Darth bane path of destruction
Thrawn heir to the empire
The high republic light of the jedi
Revan
Yep.
One of my all time fav books i read was the Han Solo Trilogy. a 3 book series compiled into one. kinda covers Solos life from childhood to the moment that he spots Old Ben in the cantina. good riveting series imo
I'm reading it to😁
I really liked the Republic Commando books by Karen Traviss - definitely read those
Do a video about ajunta pall the first dark lord of the sith
Man my top 5 would probably be, Revan, Master and Apprentice, Black spire outpost(a surprise to be sure but a welcome one), Shadow of the Sith and High Republic Into the Dark. Now it changes a lot this is just right now.

Completely agree! The Yuuzhan Vong series, which led to Darth Caidus & Jaina slaying her twin was absolutely captivating!
I haven’t started it yet cause I’m trying to buy all the books before I read them. I only need two more out of the 19 that’s in the series and I’m looking forward to it.
I've just started reading heir to the empire yesterday
I've also read thrawn alliances wich is great
Love the legacy of the force
X-wing Rouge Squadron books are fantastic CANON books. Also splinter of the minds eye the original episode 5 turned original legends.
The cannon thrawn books are my favourite books of all time, not sure about the seccond one, personally i find it a bit slow, but the first thrawn book is just top notch quality
I just finished darth plaguisis novel and it will remain canon to me
I've read all of them. Own all but the last three. Technically, the first four story arcs mentioned are still canon on the grounds that they were never replaced by anything, and their stories are referenced by the current canon.
I want him to dive deeper in reran, bane and plagues, actually all the books apart from the original trilogy
I have the og trilogy book its amazing
Another good series is the Republic Commandos series (I can't really pick a favorite between all of them lol) if you have an interest in clones and their struggle to find a place in a galaxy that sees them as subhuman
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll check out Darth Bane and Revan later on this year. My top 5 SW books are Lost Stars, Revenge of the Sith, Dark Disciple, Darth Plagueis and Ahsoka.
the dark force rising was my introduction to the Extended Universe
My favorite is the death trooper
My top five Legends favorites:
1. Darth Bane trilogy
2. Thrawn trilogy
3. Courtship of Princess Leia
4. Jedi Search Trilogy
5. X-Wing novel series
Have you ever listened to the radio drama of the OT? Just packed with extra scenes, including a dinner with the Organa Family
Obviously some things don't fit into canon but it's good it's cool
Which legend would you what to make canon?
Thrawn Trilogy for me
Another thing is that I not only feel that the Heir of the Empire Trilogy was the best books of the entire Star Wars Legends selection, but another book that should be highly praised from the collection was "Truce at Bakura." And to have an incredible battle against the odds between a Rebel Alliance-Imperial partnership against the Ssi-Ruu Imperium was quite a brilliant literary concept.
For me, probably the best series of EU books (I refuse to call them legends) is the X-wing series featuring Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron
Bane trilogy was my favorite
When he is imprisoned and starts feeling the pain and awareness coming back and he says "It's time.."😮
Could you do one on the best star wars legends comic series?
My 5 must reads:
1) Thrawn Trilogy & Hand of Thrawn Duology
2) Jedi Academy Trilogy
3) I, Jedi
4) Young Jedi Knights Series (specifically Lightsabers and The Shadow Academy Arc as a whole
5) The “Callista” Trilogy specifically Darksaber though I have a higher opinion of Children of the Jedi and Planet of Twilight than most…
1. The Mandalorian Armor
2. All the Thrawn books
3. SWTOR: Fatal Alliance
4. Tarkin
5. Rule of Two
characters like Ulic Qel-Droma are pretty epic too
The question is, which edition of the original trilogy is the one you are referring to?
Shatterpoint is epic aswell
I love your videos larry!
I read the books of Darth Plagueis, Revan and Darth Bane
Where to start: Legends is canon. That's where it ends.
Most of my top 5 are the X-wing series. Add in I, Jedi.
Path of Destruction was an awesome book, though the part where Drew Karpyshyn kept using the term units to describe the Brotherhood forces instead of definitively giving them platoon, company, battalion, etc., designations did make it a little confusing. I watch a Star Wars audiobook channel they are reading Mandalorian Armor Slave Ship.
I listened to the darth bane book on RUclips but not the others
Honestly more into the canon novels xD
Legends took advantage of the opportunity to expand the star wars universe, and it did. Ok this is awesome
They'll always be EU for me 😍
LEGENDS NEVER DIE
Ok Larry
I came back
I have read every single legends books 4 times... it blows Disney's bullshit away...
Extended Universe is the phrase you are looking for, the Disney crap is NOT canon.
i'm 45 books away from having all legends novels.
First also why does no one know about this guy like he’s insane
No one care
Cool
Legends is Canon Disney is not I have Spoken!
DEATHTROOPERS!!!!!!
imo, Revan is a rather weak book, there are several dozen novels that are better. Scorge is the only reason why the book is not bad, but average, Revan himself is very pale.
I like the Revan story more in KOTOR.
@@maccurtis730 me too. Kotor, especially the second one, made a brilliant character out of Revan, and then novel and swtor ruined him
😊
Hi
