Thelemite here. Not the worst take on 666. I was expecting more sensationalism. There's a bit more nuance to Crowley's attainment of Adeptus Minor, but you hit the gist of it. The whole story of the reception of the Book of the Law is somewhat iffy, as there's conflicting ship records regarding when Crowley was in Cairo. Also originally Crowley titled the Book of the Law as Liber L. He didn't switch it it to AL until Frater Achad hit the scene. Do What Thou Wilt does not mean "you do you" exactly. A bit more complicated than that. I won't speak on the A.'.A.'. but there's more to it than that. The Choronozon bit has more nuance as well, see Liber 418. I'm likely wasting my time writing all this, but for whatever it's worth.
I think the way to make make a Crowley movie would be to portray his magickal practices in a dualistic sense. Basically, to present the occultist notions in a light to make one question if the magick was real or an illusion to the point where the movie could have two completely different stories within the same story depending on the perspective of the observer.
What do you mean by illusion? Ceremonial magicians are not illusionists like a David Blaine. And most ceremonies are done by oneself or a small number of other magicians.
@@TheLikesofMeh I'm aware of that. However, their practice pertains to the supernatural. In that sense, I think a good artistic portrayal would be to show them as ordinary events with some small subtle twists to make you wonder. Olver Stone sorta did this in his movie, "Nixon".

This documentary didn't get all it's facts straight. It claims Crowley was not an advocate of human sacrifice, when in fact he was. He wrote that rituals he performed sometimes required a human sacrifice, with the caviot that the sacrifice should be a willing victim.
