some might say it is a bit pretentious to refer to oneself as a "musical genius" but he really is. Pure genius.
Hello, I'm the musical genius! 😁
Totally!!!
He says that every time to provoke people into thinking he is a pretentious, cocky musician on purpose. He portrays this persona of a villain when he is in entertainment. But the real irony is that he truly is a musical genius. He is the most talented and hardworking, yet most eloquent and articulate musician of our time, following in the footsteps of our greats from the past.
As a drummer, I love it! Great !!!
nice drums dude
this is so wonderful.
Never thought about about it like that. Great work
Brilliant and beautiful.
Mind blowing awesomeness !!
AWESOME!
so awesome.
Doido! Esse cara é muito bom. FANTASTIC!
Given it's sound and responsive nature, I'd say that is one heck of an expensive piano.
What else would Chilly play on haha?
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥Wow, truly beautiful ♥ ♥
Liking this ALOT
Hehe. Musical and Comedic genus.
Come for the music stay for the bathrobes! ;)
Pure awesome
This...! is Music!
Well alright Chilly, slam them damn keys👏👏👏
You’re so cool chilly
Ben Folds was also a drummer, who plays piano.
holy shit!
I came here because I read: Hoy a dummy plays piano. Still satisfied.
daniel day lewis improved a lot his piano skills
Wow! Starting from 1:38, does the piano really shake under Chilly's merciless drummin'?... or is it just the cameraman who's all shaken by the waves thumpin' through his body and heart? ;-)
Piano, it looks like the brakes weren't set ;)
he does look like him alot
Watch how he introduces himself. He likes to tease. The video is called:
"Chilly Gonzales gives Drowned in Sound a Piano Lesson: The Re-Swizzle"
reminds me of phillips glass
i think too, maybe the left is his dominant hand . . .
HOW?!
Siick
Hello, I'm Jimmy, the pizza-eating genius.
I always thought every musician should learn drums first. Great for timing I guess (:
Sounds like The Rev playing piano for Avenged Sevenfold
"thing" addams family
I'm not worthy. 🙇♂️
Please in french language
For the drummer, right hand for the tempo, left hand to play, for the pianist this is the opposite.
Hahaha he's just an excellent composer and pianist. Buy his scores, maybe then you will understand! If not, then maybe you lack something. ;)
I think you just need to bee a little more keen.
I hate that this dude has to mention that he is a musical genius
he makes fun of the industry and plays with open cards. makes him charming
More like L r L r L r L r L r
if you see what I mean ;)
Drummer into pianist : excellent
Pianist into drummer : disaster
Jokes
christ
Why does he refer to himself as a genius?
he is joking
Lowell Carroll
Because he is.
Tyler J
No, he is not. He is a genius and He knows it.
strange
Not your business
What is this shit?! 1:45 Spamming All Notes??
Did you just refer to the "RLRL" inverted paraddidle as "Chimpanzee style"?
Lol What an insult to rudiments.
he is good, but he overrates himself by himself
PINEAPPLE
He's being pretentious on purpose. He's a comedian as well.
He is a musical genius in every perspective.
pretentious.
comedy
and actual genius
He's Chilly Gonzales, He earned it.
it's funny because he actualy is a genius
Somewhat entertaining and could be considered humorous if that was the intent.
But the piano is more than just a percussive instrument as is the guitar, violin, harp,
harmonica, clarinet, sax and others.
Too much Banging. The rhythm/beat played seemed
mechanical sounding. A nice jazzy swing beat or Latin beat or other beat/rhythm
doesn't have to be loud, violent, banging, immensely fast to be pleasant and enjoyable.
There are crescendos, decrescendos, dynamics, tensions, tone, rhythms, legato, staccato,
trills, tremolos, arpeggios, syncopations, etc etc.
(I don't play violin but looks like there are many more techniques (of expression?)
for violin - point being, again, it isn't all about
percussion and rhythm: scordatura, Bartok pizzato, sul ponticello, col legno,
natural harmonic glissando, artificial harmonic glissando, pizzicato glissando, tapping,
microtones, silent fingering, slapping/striking strings, playing on the bridge, scratch tone,
circular bowing, subharmonic, playing behind the bridge, brush over the bridge,
Sul tasto. Col legno. Spiccato. Ricochet etc..
