@@c1rano I don't have to read Niels Hamann's book, although if it's about the E31, I assume it's good. However, I read the book Driving Ambition by the creators of McLaren F1 and Gordon Murray and Paul Rosche clearly said that the engine has nothing in common with the normal M70 block. It is often a popular and untrue statement when testing a BMW E31 750i or E31 850i that the engine from these cars is used in the McLaren F1. In F1 it is shorter, has different dimensions, is more compact and although it has some BMW electronics and some TAGA electronics, it is not the same engine or block. The S70/2, while sharing the same 12 cylinder layout, bore spacing and design principle as the S70B56, is essentially a new design with the heads based on the European market S50B30 and thus featuring 4 valves per cylinder and variable valve timing VANOS. Additionally, the F1 engine does not have a flywheel. The engine draws inspiration from the M70. I agree with that. The engine itself is more associated with the S50B30 technologically than with the muscular M70B50. Code name is S70B56 (CSi) / S70/1 (M8 Concept) / S70/2 (McLaren F1 and BMW E34 Touring) / S70/3 (BMW X5 LM, BMW V12 LM) Thank you for the great E31 850 CSi material. Preffered much better than R129 from MB. Even if R129 is more robust the E31 is always will be my favorite. Great stuff and one of the greatest GT coupes ever. Your video is the best of the E31 850 CSi videos on the RUclips right now.
@@c1rano I know Mr. Niels Hamann from community of E31. Very nice and calm gentleman. Keep doing good work. If ever had a chance do film with E34 M5 3.5 from 88-91

The S70/1 in M8 was not designed like S70/2. McLaren F1 engine was designed more like E36 M3 3.0 engine and has Vanos
Bro check out the Book of Niels Hamann. There you find everything. Its himself in the Video. Thank you :)

Klär ich ab
