PROG THRASH do exists and it's called Vektor. react to VEKTOR-LCD from their epic album Terminal Redux one of the best prog metal album of this decade.
Vektor is fantastic but I think it would soar over their heads. They are SO technically proficient and creative that it boggles the minds of those whose ears are not tuned for it.
Progressive thrash? Oh boy, there's a HUGE world out there for you. Coroner, Voivod, Heathen, Mekong Delta, Watchtower, Blind Illusion, Artillery, Deathrow, Vektor, etc. I don't know if this will get any attention because most of these bands never managed to break into the mainstream (except for Vektor), but there's some incredibly stuff in this you'd definitely enjoy. @@Howard_the_Duck Yeah, damien is amazing... It's hard for me to pick a song because you have to see all of them in context to the whole album. My favorite album is the "something wicked" and favorite song would be "the coming curse". But damien is fine! ^^ And if they don't like Barlow they can move on to Owens or Stu... I predict that they gonna love it!
Iced Earth would be great. They should avoid their early stuff--not because it isn't good, but because the early singers are off-putting. Here are my recommendations: Matt Barlow: Dante's Inferno, A Question of Heaven, Melancholy, DamienTim Owens: Declaration Day, Ten Thousand Strong, Gettysburg (though not as a beginning song)Stu Block: Dystopia, Raven's Wings

I'm liking the tournament format! Yeah the keyboards were my favorite back then - Kevin Moore. I feel he focused on the atmosphere than just being technical. My favorite era of DT
I dont know, Merropolis pt1 is still the greatest album of DT. And Change of Seasons was a beast of a song. Whats more the shorter more poppy songs on Octavarium are all great and musical.
I'm warming up to the new setup guys, and ofc I like this vid because DT is in it. If you guys wanna do more DT reactions I would recommend: -Surrounded -Under a Glass Moon -6:00
Thank you for showing appreciation for the keyboard/synth playing!🙏 It really is an essential aspect of their music that creates such a cool atmospheric effect and adds so much to the texture of their sound that most other bands don't take advantage of.
Ain't seen you guys here in a while...BAM you come out with Dream Theater Pull Me Under I jump at clickin on it. Because I know you would love it, and love seeing you dudes diggin on exactly what I KNOW you will dig. AND You saw it live???? Look at you guys all high speed, low drag now. New set, new gear, high rollers. Proud to be a sub since the beginning when you guys just started. Still the best react channel ever. Keep kicking ass. Proud of you guys. Oh, and this song is f'ng amazing
Pull Me Under is probably the first Dream Theater song most people ever hear, and for many it is the only Dream Theater song they ever hear... most committed DT fans "move on" from it reasonably quickly and while they never forget about it, they probably subconsciously file it away as "the commercial early hit". But it really is a genuinely great composition - basically it is perfect in every way and I think DT fans ought to champion and promote it more. This video shows the power it has to blow people away!
One of the best things I have ever seen at a gig was when I saw DT and Opeth performing, and Mike Portnoy invited Max from Opeth and the drummers from the two other supporting band's to come up and battle him, and then at the end of it they all went up and played on his kit with him. It was jaw dropping!
There is nothing like Kevin Moore era DT. Watching you guys nod your head to this song, reminds me of the first time I heard this song. You need to give the next track on this album "Another Day", James Labrie's vocals on that are insane.
@@Tetrastuctural_Intelligence Aye, Coroner or even Artillery would be a better launching board for that. Throwing vektor at such innocent ears would be fun though

Holy shit! You guys were at my Wiltern show?!! Would love to have met you. Great new video. Others have confirmed the abrupt ending, but it should be noted that the lyrics were inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet, and in fact, the last words sung by James are a direct quote from the play: "O, that this too, too solid flesh would melt."

It stops so suddenly to reflect how death can come so suddenly.
And once you hear it enough there is a subtle cue that you notice to know it ends.
They also did it because The Beatles did it on 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)'
Songs based on Hamlet
Portnoy said that they just didn't know how to keep up building the song, so they just ended the song like that.
Either way it's a cool way to end it. I always liked the way it went right into Another Day.

No shame in some earplugs at a show, how you gonna do music reviews and reactions etc if you're deaf. I went to so many shows without them and can tell my ears arent what they were when i was younger.
You actually get way more clarity with plugs in too
And prevent tinnitus, which I have (for other reasons) and is a nightmare until you finally get used to it.
Nothing on me is what it was when I was younger
Yeah, back in the day I saw 50 to 70 gigs per year. Plugs are a must, especially on club gigs. But u just have invest into proper plugs. Spend like 20 bucks and you’re set up for several years.
I learn that myself the hard way too in January, Matodon killed my hearing for the whole weekend.
Love the channel as always. Set up is working gret for you guys. Been watching you since day one. I get happy just seeing your musical journey (the shows you go to), only a matter of time before im bugging you for a group photo lol. Keep it goin guys.
Awesome... Great as always!!! love to see you guys progressing... love the new setup it sounds amazing!!!
It's called Coroner - Mental Vortex, Deathrow - Deception Ignored and Watchtower - Control and Resistance!
You could argue that late-era Death is prog Thrash too. Also my band Epicenter ;)
Some songs you'd like would be:
Coroner - Semtex Revolution
Heathen - Hypnotized
Dont forget Anacrusis
I love you bro, you listed some of my most beloved bands of that genre! Respect! May I add Toxik?
Heathen was definitely underrate🤘
Holy crap! I was there with you guys at the concert for the second day. It looks like maybe only 20 feet away and I didn't even see you guys. Glad you loved the show!
Always love the discussions on this channel. Couldnt agree more on the gateway songs.
And now that you've warmed up, it's time for more RUSH!
LImelight FTW!
And after you've worn out Rush, listen to some classic Yes!
@@matthewbarry4464 They still need to do Roundabout!!!!
Jacob's Ladder and Natural Science
LA VILLA LA VILLA LA VILLA LA VILLA
You guys need to react to iced earth. One of the best powermetal bands of all time. Preferably you should listen to Dantes inferno a masterpiece
Hell yeah, or Damien!
@@Howard_the_Duck
Yeah, damien is amazing... It's hard for me to pick a song because you have to see all of them in context to the whole album. My favorite album is the "something wicked" and favorite song would be "the coming curse". But damien is fine! ^^ And if they don't like Barlow they can move on to Owens or Stu... I predict that they gonna love it!
Dracula would be a good one too.
Iced Earth would be great. They should avoid their early stuff--not because it isn't good, but because the early singers are off-putting. Here are my recommendations:
Matt Barlow: Dante's Inferno, A Question of Heaven, Melancholy, DamienTim Owens: Declaration Day, Ten Thousand Strong, Gettysburg (though not as a beginning song)Stu Block: Dystopia, Raven's Wings
There is no Iced Earth without Matt Barlow.
LOVE you dudes man. The analysis is so pure and from the heart.
You guys are just awesome. I love the way you guys work together. I think you bring a lot to the table with music.
Its Dream Theatre's First Radio Song, So, It Really Was Their "Gateway" To Fame, Thanx Guys! Great Job! Keep It Up!
Queensryche, Operation Mindcrime, whole album. It's a masterpiece of rock.
Yes!
TOOOOOOOOOOOOTALLY.... I saw them in 5 with Kiss I think... didn't care for them (Ednded up LOVING Rage For Order CD) but couple years later my buddy brings me Operation Mindcrime and I was like..."I dunno man I dont think I like these guys" was HOOKED....seen them both Metallica shows (Still have pictures of it lol) and both shows with Suicidal Tendencies also....
You guys are becoming real metal aficionados! This channel gets better and better! Goose bumps fellas!
Everyone missed you!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back!!! loving the set up!!
I'm liking the tournament format! Yeah the keyboards were my favorite back then - Kevin Moore. I feel he focused on the atmosphere than just being technical. My favorite era of DT
Ripple Moon I&W and Awake were great with Kevin
I dont know, Merropolis pt1 is still the greatest album of DT. And Change of Seasons was a beast of a song. Whats more the shorter more poppy songs on Octavarium are all great and musical.
I'm warming up to the new setup guys, and ofc I like this vid because DT is in it.
If you guys wanna do more DT reactions I would recommend:
-Surrounded
-Under a Glass Moon
-6:00
Thank you for showing appreciation for the keyboard/synth playing!🙏 It really is an essential aspect of their music that creates such a cool atmospheric effect and adds so much to the texture of their sound that most other bands don't take advantage of.
Ain't seen you guys here in a while...BAM you come out with Dream Theater Pull Me Under I jump at clickin on it. Because I know you would love it, and love seeing you dudes diggin on exactly what I KNOW you will dig. AND You saw it live???? I know you both love this $#!+ because it's heavy groove that crushes all the way. You know groove, and what's solid. I mean, I'm lookin at your faces all curled up in approval of the heaviness. You even had to wind it back and hear the beginning riffs again!!!
TWO thumbs up to you guys.
Reading the comments, I somehow get the urge to check out some band called Vektor.
Check out Vektor's album - Terminal Redux. Can not go wrong with it.
You guys should react to Camel. "Lady Fantasy", "Chord Change", "Nimrodel", "Lunar Sea", "Echoes", and so many others.
Stationary Traveller, never let go... etc.
Its so awesome watching people get into music you've been listening to for 20 years! Pull Me Under has been at the top of my list for 15 plus years and here these guys are rockin out to it in 2019! So awesome.
This is pretty much exactly how I feel about Carry on Wayward Son as a Kansas fan.
One of the best things I have ever seen at a gig was when I saw DT and Opeth performing, and Mike Portnoy invited Max from Opeth and the drummers from the two other supporting band's to come up and battle him, and then at the end of it they all went up and played on his kit with him. It was jaw dropping!
Glad to see you back and I'm loving the changes!
You should have pain of salvation, between the buried and me, leprous, haken etc in the tournament.
Hahaha i was waiting for that abrupt end ,and your reactions hahaha .. you two so adorable xD love ur vids ,much respect boys
There is nothing like Kevin Moore era DT. Watching you guys nod your head to this song, reminds me of the first time I heard this song. You need to give the next track on this album "Another Day", James Labrie's vocals on that are insane.
Love that you went to a live show
Great reaction guys, love your channel ! 👌🤘
I love you guys! your unbiased reactions are just awesome and heartfelt and i salute you two!
Damn, Mike Portnoy at 12:36!! God, he was insane. Still had soul too.
You want Progressive thrash?? Vektor and Voivod are must guys
Garrett McKinney They're looking for weed and your offering them LSD. Wtf dude!
@@Tetrastuctural_Intelligence Aye, Coroner or even Artillery would be a better launching board for that. Throwing vektor at such innocent ears would be fun though
I've been dying for them to listen to LCD or Collapse. I don't think it'll happen though.
@@exiledkopite5127 I bet they'd like Grin
@@Tetrastuctural_Intelligence Yes, Voivod are incredible especially their early 90's stuff and Nothingface.
Loving the audio upgrade. I just saw Dream Theater last friday at the Chicago Theater and it was awesome. Hope to see you do The Glass Prison or Strange Deja Vu sometime in the future.
Been away for awhile guys, love the new set and format! Same great reactions!
Dream Theater has produced some amazing music over the years, but they were absolutely on top of their game with Pull Me Under.
>>>>>>>>>>Soulfly; "Moses"
Not even a top 10 song
Umut Onuralp Polat yea it was super popular because its mainstream
Have you guys seen or reacted to the little kids of O'Keefe Music Foundation doing Dream Theater and Tool. Excellent
Seeing that little girl bust out James Labrie is freakin' awesome!
Yes, do this!
Yeah, i was gonna recommend that as well. She does great on that tool song too.
David Adams hell yes those kids kicked ass. I seriously think it’s way better than DT.
YES especially 46 and 2 and sober. Kala Scarpinski has a beautiful voice that makes for a great contrasting sound.
I already commented but I gotta add that I just LOVE you guys geeking out over odd time signatures, lol
It is great to see other DT fans! I don't know anyone personally who likes them as much as I do. I have been a fan since the 90s and "Pull Me Under" pulled me into their fanbase! :) great stuff!
Dream Theater - In the Name of God
Incredible song. Maybe my favorite (definitely top 3). 🤘
They will have a mind blowing with the first heavy riff
They could name it as their best song. Because it is
Hey guys..
Have you done a reaction to the band "Queensryche" ablum "operation mindcrime "?
If not.. you should.
I agree
100% behind you on this! That album can only be properly enjoyed in whole form, through one long listen.
Genuinely loving that tournament thing... keep it up guys! Also,
BARSTOOL
WARRIOR
The new album isn't getting enough love so far, but that song is a freaking masterpiece!
