The Antonov makes Perth airport look like a small country airstrip. I was lucky enough to catch a brief glimpse of one parked on a taxyway waiting for Rally Australia to conclude and load cars to go somewhere else. There was apparently nowhere else on the airport to put it. The motion image in the vision I shot with a film camera jumps about. If only back then we could have had compact tools like those little cameras on a stick which can fit comfortably inside a small aircraft. ruclips.net/video/mv_a5J-_rII/видео.html
I was doing a job about 20 yrs ago for a drilling company who was sending equipment from Perth to a mine in West Africa... I was lucky enough to be on that loading job and walk inside the cargo area of the Antonov (AN-124) ... It was too big inside to even get your head around ... simply massive ... the plane had a crew of 14 (!!) but I'm not sure if that meant it was two crews who hot-swapped during the flight ... one funny thing - the takeoff was delayed by several hours because of some faulty plumbing... apparently their toilets weren't able to flush and it was a long and slow haul over to Africa 🙂 ... problem fixed and off she went later that night.
Awesome catch. Love watching these old time smokers land & take off. Sadly, the AN-225 is missed terribly 😟😟. Kiwi in York, England.
Thanks, glad you liked it.
One of 26 built I believe. The big brother of the An124 was the An225, six engined monster, which was totally destroyed in Ukraine sadly. Great video.
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It is a shame the 225 got totalled, an engineering marvel it was.
@@YPPHAviation 100% agreed on that. I have been on the monster, not flying sadly, and it was an amazing piece of machinery well loved by its crew.
Fantastic catch 👏
Thanks for watching.

Yes, it’s an incredible aircraft. Thanks for the story, I hope to see one again sometime.
How does it compare to dimensions of a A380?
I’m not sure. 🤔
noisy as fck on the inside,,, but an incredible aircraft,, apart from the engines..
Yes. A true accomplishment in engineering.
I thought that thing was destroyed in the current war. Or was it the twin? LOL.
They all look the same to me, but there was a big brother. That is the one that got destroyed I believe.
Exactly. It was the AN 225 which was destroyed (6 engines)

Thanks for the info. The cargo hold of the Antonov would be a treat to see.

Yes. Thanks for watching👍
