Celeste is the perfect example of everything wrong with the dating world. You liked him but you’re only thinking of what could be instead of what’s in front of you. And that’s scary that a person can do you like that. I mean it’s speed dating so not as serious but the principle remains
There can always be someone potentially better out there. The “flaw” is dating apps giving you the choice of sorting through the options or settling, which is not a bad thing. "Settling" can have a negative connotation, but it just depends on if you're ready for your blessing or not. This isn't Love is Blind, these people are speed dating. In real life, you don't have that personalized, curated selection of people, so you can’t expect everyone you meet to be a potential match.

@Light I think the only problem with her mindset is that she's focusing on the "What If", when right now, she's currently only dating. I have no experience in dating myself, but I do know that you shouldn't be looking for the perfect partner immediately just to go on a date with, since dating is usually where you learn about that person the most.
How can you be sure if you love or will love someone if you've only JUST met them? Dating is supposed to be where you find that out by learning about them, no? If you think you've fallen in love with someone after just meeting them, then that's likely not 'love', but rather lust, and those are two separate things.
Also, I figured I'd put this here as well, but that statement about men prioritizing looks over personality in women doesn't really have any meaning. That same statement is true for women, since statistically speaking, most women, similarly to men, prioritize a guy with looks over personality.

@Light Let me clear this up immediately, but what I find problematic about what she 'did', is the fact that she brought him back on after rejecting him. Let's say this is a blind date, and you've just met this guy, you talked about yourselves a bit, blah blah blah, then you make the decision that you're not interested, and that's fine, all cool. Then, however, after a few other dates with other people, you decide to bring that person BACK for another date, after you had just rejected him. Why?
I get this is a speed-dating show, and the logic behind it is everyone basically speedrunning to smash the button for extra screentime, but pretend for a minute this isn't a speed-dating show and these were real dates that happened; she basically rejected him so she could see if there was, 'anyone better', aka 'keeping her options open', then calls him back on. If she hadn't called him back on like she did, not as many people would really care that much. Plus, it's not exactly 'keeping your options open' if you bring a person on a date, and reject them, right?
I don't know if you're deliberately trying to misinterpret what I said, but nothing I said implies you should just date the first person you meet, but rather try dating a person you've met who is both someone you're genuinely interested in/like, and that person feels the same way towards you. This, of course, means AFTER you've gotten to know them enough to make that decision. Dating someone literally can't hurt you, and if it doesn't work out after 'x months of dating', then move on and find someone else; you don't need to speedrun romance to be successful in life, and you have all the time in your lifespan to find someone, so what's the rush to create a huge list of options? Has any of this cleared up your confusion on my point?

From my perspective, it was pretty obvious there was no connection on either side.
