Actually, in typical German fashion, the nomenclatures are quite logical : A38 = A190 X 2 (19x2=38) And A32K is obviously the Kompressor motor from the SLK32 AMG.
In the late 90ies I took pictures of a silver A-Class parked at the nurburgring and it hat an engine in the back, the whole bootspace covered, air intakes over the rear wheels and a A32 badge on it...I always thought this was a kind of "secret special wish car" for a good AMG customer....it looked so cool! btw nice video and thank you for the upload!
every time i see a first gen A series i also remember it's rival the audi a2 that in the words of clarkson ''you could feel the car swirving when the wind hit''
i completely forgot how small first A-Class was....the elk disaster was a really big thing at this time...for those who dont know, : this A-Class was constructed to have space for batteries for electric drive on bottom of car, without them the main emphasis was much too high...so the car got probs with the elk-test.... Mr. Hsg this is an perfect example for an "unsung Heroes" chapter....
We saw a lot of these cars in Belgium back in the days. Was a so called city car for wealthy women who liked shopping in the city before online orders from Zalando became popular. But it never was an AMG version ☺
Lindsay Fox has the other A38 AMG on display that you can see in Melbourne Australia, he also has three Porsche 935. 2020 models plus other jaw dropping cars. The place is called Fox Classic Car Collection, Docklands.
I really wish the A32k was a real release to the public. I own a C32 with the M112 and it's the only V6 I prefer over the V8 (C55). The Supercharged V6 sounds amazing, feels just as powerful, is cheaper and easier to modify.
It's kinda sad that Mercedes has tried to make these disappear, even taking the one they had out of the museum just so the current A-class AMG could be advertised better.
The even more unsung hero is the electric A-Klasse as what the car was developed by a young team of engineers. This is also the reason why it didn't make the Elk-test after the high-temperature batteries from a swiss company (DEA I think) were missing as counterweight from the double-floor bottom. It was intended for the Californian market at the time. Pollution was bad and a new law was on the way that every car maker had to sell electric cars to be allowed onto the market there. Later that law never came into action... For more details please watch the documentary "who killed the electric car". I think GM's EV 1 should also be on this list, not only because it was developed by a solar racing team...
Twin engined? I know AMG has done some silly stuff (including a brabus twin turbo V6 smart roadster) but that truly is some mental stuff. Another car that I know is not as crazy (not much can come close to that lol) but is very much underrated and is technically a homologation car is the Suzuki ignis sport. As far as hot hatches go it's actually very reasonable and I'm surprised it hasn't been in gran turismo at some point. Might make a decent video.
Funny thing how A class just proves peoples need to feed out of others failures. Elk test isn't a core test of anything. Many cars made by companies that predominantly produce FWD would bear the same fate if provided with enough grip to unsettle the design balance. To translate to not technical people taking away grip= more stability as the car cant create many G and as such isn't in danger of rolling. That's why most FWD cars understeer as if they didn't they would tend to flip. It happens to other cars and it would happen to any FWD car if you upgrade traction without tuning the entire suspension. Something you learn quickly tuning cars. As Mercedes never dealt with FWD and this Box concept its actually amazing how good this car is in real life day to day use. But the Important thing is Hater got to Shout victoriously: YES THE DAY HAS COME. WE SHALL TALK ABOUT IT FOR ETERNITY! THE BRAND I HATE WITH ALL I GOT BECAUSE I CANT AFFORD IT FAILED TRYING SOMETHING FOR THE FIRST TIME. PRAISED BE OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. Ignore the fact Mercedes actually went and fixed it instantly as they were not aware as Real cars don't have FWD issues, and grip is all good. Where that cant be said almost ever for some brands that get idolised fanatically.
@@shugthehornyhaggis My points its cool to hate on and amplify the mistake of Mercedes because we need to hate on the brand we cant afford. And no Swerve test and Elk test isn't the same. No City Outside US and Scandinavia allows for speeds past 50Kph in populated areas. When it does pedestrians are prohibited and/or restricted from crossing . Also having elevated(or tunnel) pedestrian crossings at crucial high speed roads if the crossing is necessary... in 2012 testing 6 cars failed the test. That's 15 years later. ALL By predominantly FWD car makers... But yeah we don't need to Hold Toyota ,Citroen and Renault responsible because they are poor little babies struggling to make ends meet. I agree on the judgement but not the fine. Its way overblown out of proportion. Mercedes corrected their mistake immediately. So no REAL problem existed ever. Few doesn't cars sold were refitted at the Factory expense. Others made the same mistake with 15 years time and development to prevent it from even happening. Its a Pinnacle of Human malice : I don't like it so it can go die.
And also there was a urban legend about the black wolga. This story was told in some Slavic countries. It goes like this , sometime there is a black wolga parked at some weird place without a owner. But if you somehow get in the wolga and look at the rear view mirror , you'd see the devil's horns and you disappear.
Nobody knows where you going to be or who's car it is , the only thing you know is that this was your biggest mistake. I know this story sounds stupid and I was actually afraid of my uncle's black wolga.
Must Not Overlook The Brabus Tuned A190....It Has Had The Engine Bored Out To 2.2 Giving It 155bhp And Higher Torque At Lower Revs...Bigger Bore Exhaust (2 Inch) ...The Combined Sound Is Deep Burble Into Deeper Rumble.....Surprises Many At The Lights.....Justified In Badging As 'A22O Brabus' I.m.h.o....Because (Although 'A210' Owners Might Object) That Is What It Is.....As It Tears Away From One At The Liiiiiights!!!

german engineer humour

The A Class evolution was the top of the range production model, a 2.1 version which produced 140bhp and had AMG body kit etc
Awesome little car I can't imagine the maintenance costs on the twin engine model thats alot of high end complex stuff to go wrong.
Didn't know about that car ! This is brilliant :)!
Maybe the next hatchback could be the Mazda 323 GTR ;)

Daniel Waldecker Thanks bud :)
I can't believe they managed to up the car to 1665kg 0.0
But damn are those cool for A-class cars.
submaniac93 Haha yeah, it’s a hefty little bugger xD
Heavy brick 🤣

The A32 is turbocharged? I thought it was supercharged like what the SLK 32 or C32 AMG had...
I expected it would be too, but apparently not
I’ve seen pictures of the engine and you can see the supercharger on top
A32K would suggest Kompressor : German for Supercharger
It’s 100% supercharged.
@@spencertomlinson1296 Its 100 % turbocharged
My prof was the head of the develompent xD

For sure. I've reviewed both the C55 and C32 here on the channel in the Beards 'n Cars series, and I also prefer the C32.

Gotta love Amg. God damn they make pretty cars.
Love it!

Brabus is Brabus and not AMG
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh that’s insane stuff for a Hatch. That’s beating a civic type r from 2021 from 0-60
That definitely just looks like a standard A Class that’s been given to a chav.
Ben Mayall hang on, are you @mayall_1 on PSN?
KloktekMods yes I am.
Ben Mayall do you remember playing with @unityrules on GT6 cruise lobbies? I'm him.
KloktekMods oh yes! Nice to meet you again. :)
Ben Mayall and you! Really miss those cruises, and online in general.
Well there was an A210 Evolution. Well at least here in Germany
There was a C32 AMG Sportcoupe back in 2002

Did they maybe think of this as a Rival to the Golf R32 and Clio V6
Could you do a unsung hero to the v8 variant of the gaz 24 volga , because this was one of the only or even the only Soviet muscle car.

Could you maybe try to include more video footage of the cars? That is if there is any :P Great videos anyway!! :D
I occasionally do, but people sometimes get touchy about using their footage and I can't be bothered with claims
Yeah thats what I thought
Top of the tree of the first gen had 140hp (A210)

Bmw E30 333i?
1:29 *7.5 sec not 5.5
are front tires bigger than rear?
3.2 motor should have had a kompressor, not turbo. And photo you’ve showed justified it)
The MK2 A class was an amazing compact car
