It stopped when they took "western" out of "country and western" music. This is a classic song born out of the Old American West with its yodeling beginnings coming from European immigrants.
Growing up on a cattle ranch I'm pretty sure I never heard anybody yodel at our cattle.😎 However I used to play "I want a be a cowboys sweetheart " many times on the country stations I worked at. The true country and Western music many times had yodeling in it. You are very talented and have a great stage presence I see a great future for you.!!

I do not understand how yodeling can lift the heart but it does. Watching Sofia's performances is like the man says in the video, "as good as happy medicine". Sing Sophia, sing for the world until all can smile for a moment anyway as they hear your wonderful yodeling.
I find it is also true of tap dancing. Some things were simply MEANT to do with a smile, to the point they are almost impossible to do at all without one...

It looked like everyone had fun with this. Sofia was an amazingly good teacher too. Every time I hear her sing " I wanna be a cowboy's sweetheart" her English and delivery is better. We are watching a young star grow right before our eyes. Great job, Sofia.
I appreciate the heart from Sofia. I'm sure someone else is posting the hearts for her because a 12-year-old girl should be busy with her school work and shouldn't be reading peoples comments. I hope her mom and those around her will continue to monitor and guide her on a path to success while letting her be a normal kid who enjoys a balanced life. Your voice control is impressive. I love to sing in my free time and i can tell you i cannot switch from my chest register to my head register that quickly and what you do is just wow. I am now imagining all the amazing things you can do with your voice because being able to yodel that great will definely give you a super great voice control that will allow you to sing very complicated pieces. I used to yodel as a kid but when i grow up i lost the connection i used to feel on my vocal chords, it's like i could felt them so near so it was easy to switch between registers but now i feel they are appart so it's hard to connect them both but what you do is definetly out of what i could do even as a kid. Also i absolutely love your chest voice 😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤ it's so beautiful and powerful. You're truly an artist and i can see you growing greater and greater over time. in the USA yodeling was considered quite the art. very few do so now. i have not heard any so good since the 50s. thank you for bringing the art back.
