    If I take the old battery out with everything running. Can I just pop the new battery in with everything running and not have to reset anything?

      It’s a shame it’s fixed, what do you do when it dies?

    My PC is stuck at the start-up screen after a bios update, it says to press the ESC key for start-up, and when I click ESC nothing happens. It doesn't boot to BIOS. Do you think changing the cmos battery will fix it?

      @MyITWorkshop  2 года назад +1

      Hello,
      I dont think it related to the cmos battery. In this case if you have waited more than 30 mins, the best option is just to reboot the computer.
      Hope it helps
      Thanks for the comment.

    Sir if we change ssd or hdd to other then bios password or windows pasword will remove or not?

    • @MyITWorkshop
      @MyITWorkshop  3 года назад +1

      Hello,
      3 scenarios come to my mind:
      1. If hdd/ssd is replaced, then you will need to install windows again on the new ssd/hdd and setup a new username and password.
      2. If you clone your current ssd/hdd to a new one, then the password continues to be the same.
      3. When you re install windows/linux or replace the ssd/hdd, the BIOS password does not change.
      Hope it helps.
      Thanks for the comment

    Hello Sir. We have about 200 Computers and we have to replace all batteries. All Computers are running since years without shutdown. What is the best Strategie If we want to keep the BIOS settings? Switching on running, switching on Turned Off but power supply ist still running or the Last Option everything Turned Off. But then we have to Take Pictures of all Computers for the BIOS. Think about it. 200 Computers..

      Hello,
      I'd say the best way will be to shut down the computer(s), keep the power connected and replace the CMOS battery.
      Test the process on 1 or a few machines first to monitor their behavior and then proceed will the rest based on results.
      Hope it helps
      Thank you for the comment!

    I don't like the idea of a metalic conductor bouncing around my mobo shorting it out,the cmos battery can be removed witht the pc powered on,i am not a computer technician,i am an electronics technician so the difference is in the software.......
    Anyway,i can't get to my cmos battery as the gpu is in the way,a monster of a unit i fitted to my very old acer M5201 vista home premium pc,i have win7 and win10 on separate hdds,anew win11 pc that scares the shit out of me as win11 is so freakin' messed up.
    Back on track i had an idea of how to not screw up a powered mobo with flying cr2030 coin cells,since the cr2030 or any other coin cell(check first though) are magnetically conductive ie they have iron in the case of the cell a small center drilled magnet fitted to a short piece of wooden dowel or glued with super glue or epoxy don't use anything other than metal to wood appropriate glue elmers paper glue won't work duffus,hold coin cell with magnet and gently pry it out of the holder et voila one safely removed cell(battery implies more than one cell),and yes my American cousins it's et voila not wallah,also solder has an L in it.
    just thought i'd be a bit anal(not the butt hole variety).
    Cheers from me in the UK,in the Scottish bit,cheers.

      Hello,
      Try connecting the monitor to the video port(s) in the motherboard and not the video card.
      Hope it helps

      Why would you turn it off tho

      If you removed your nvidia or amd gpu remove the gpu and insert it again
      If it's the iGPU (integrated graphics card) remove the cpu and insert it again
      Idk if it will work
      Also your computer HAS to be turned off in this process
