We stopped at Benidorm on our way back from Portugal, mainly because it was one of the few places that we could also take the dog. It was, well, an experience and I think our views were exactly the same as your summary - if you're missing a few of the more 'stereo-typical' things from Blighty it's a great stop for a few days out of season; we'd hate it in season, just the thought of it fills us with dread!
Love this area as we stayed in La Nucia which overlooks Benidorm and Altia , great walking and rock climbing options if that’s your bag ? We flew down but as we have a van now think it’d be rude not to follow in your footsteps 😀👍
How lovely Spain in winter. Alicante looks lovely. I love Malaga city. There's something lovely about the Med and city. Will catch you next time. Lovely jogging days. ENJOY xx
Hi we stayed at the same place as you in Benidorm , the Spanish campers were feeding us most evenings as they were very intrigued with our van setup and we were slightly older than them . It was a delight to be there . Love your vlogs keep them up 👍👍
Haloa, my granddad used to overwinter in benidorm, and do line dancing and bingo in a dutch setting......If you are ever near Amsterdam and need a free parkingplace/shower/toilet... for a night or 2.. you're welkom
Greetings from Poland. Dear Alan and Sadge - lovely to see you both again. Benidorm and Alicante - two very different places. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Stay safe and look after each other please.
Think Alan's description of Benidorm is an accurate description . The average age in winter is 95 , it's the hen/stay party capital of Europe in summer , it's actually a fabulous walk along the front and in the old town , but yes , a week is too long . Great vlog guys , take care .
Another cracking vlog guys !! And Benidorm 😎 one destination I’d like to get to this year in my van if this pandemic 😷 goes away … keep them coming guys brilliant 🤩
Shame you didn’t go to the Old Town- or along the poniente beach rather than the levante. Though, the levante in an afternoon is great as there’s always a few bars with a bit of life & live music to suit all tastes. It’s a brilliant place sept- may. Lots of resorts shut down- Beni doesn’t & it has a micro climate and is south facing so the weather is brilliant. The night life in the English area is top quality at night. The old town at night is awesome- tapas alley then a drag bar for cocktails and a laugh. A 10min drive to Albir & Altea and youve got Spain in spades! (I wish visitors would visit more than just those few cheap& cheerful streets). It is friendly and welcoming that’s true. Ps. The sand is like powder. Great for all ages.
We went to the old town and both beaches we just didn't get to film it. Can't film everything unfortunately. It was was certainly an interesting experience 🙂
Wow, I can't believe all those high rise buildings there along the sea. I think I would be like you two and just stay a few days and then move on. Was the camping facility very expensive? I like those Overlanders too but on my own I think it would be too much for me. I was so wanting a sip of that hot chocolate, looked really good. I liked that lunch you had Sadge at the Lemongrass, I eat vegan. Well Alan, you aren't having a good couple of days there with the Spanish tummy and the teapot spill. As you said, that's van life! Good job with the haircut Sadge. Will you stop in Mallorca? I've been wanting to see around there as it's been 15 years since I last saw it. Safe travels and enjoy the sunshine.
The campsite wasn't too bad price wise, about average really. Sadly I don't think we will make it to Mallorca although we have been previously and run the marathon. Lovely place.
People judge Beni on the height of its buildings… and usually from one small corner of the new square. It has so much more to offer. The old town and the other beach are completely different in tone. They’re completely Spanish and traditional.
Another good blog. Glad u didn’t criticize Benidorm too much - horses for courses 😉. What did you use to attach your washing line to the side of your van ? Was it a magnet maybe or a suction thingy? Tia
Would recommend Mojacar, Cabo de Gata and Almeria. Mojacar is a lovely hilltop village. Cabo de Gata is a beautiful nature reserve and Almeria is a bustling city with underground tunnels and is where some of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was filmed.
Parking is free in both places unless you park in the centre which would be difficult anyway with the van. Never really pay for parking anywhere in Europe apart from the UK.
Cotton? Hmm not sure of the context it was a while ago we shot the video now. Probably refering to it being bad for sports because it holds onto water and has poor thermal properties when wet? They say in the mountains 'cotton kills' because it's such a poor insulator. You want a technical fabric that's either synthetic or certain natural fibers like wool.
@@RunningOffGrid just wanted to say I really enjoyed your videos . Good to see someone not glamourising van life and going through the negatives and issues sometimes faced. I’m about to embark on solo life and have been investigating all the ups and downs before I make a decision. I’m thinking of getting a small van first as I still have some family commitments so I’m not totally free to travel at will yet. That’s a whole other issue as I won’t be able to stand up in a smaller van. Lots of thinking, talking and investigating still to do before the end of this year. Enjoy yourselves, life is short. 😁🥳❤️
Weve been full time for 2 yrs .....ive never put the kettle on the bed 😂you numpty......you wont do that again will you 😂🤣 havent you got a sink you can put it in .....Benidorm looks erm interesting 🤔 hope you managed to dry the bedding out though ......wet bed isnt nice lol
Hello! I'm thinking of hiring a camper and travelling the south coast of Spain for a week or so and was wondering what the deal is with overnight stays? Do you have to find an official site or can you pretty much park up anywhere within reason..? Thanks in advance!
You can certainly park up in lots of places very easily. We have only stayed on one campsite in 6 weeks. I would recommend installing the app "park4nite" and using that as a guide. Be sure to read the reviews for each location, leave no trace and respect the land.
I would say on average about 20 Euros a night although probably not best to ask we don't normally use site's infact I think this is the only site we have ever stayed on in Spain.
Great vlog guys! Been following you on Insta for a while and just started watching your videos. Found myself sat here smiling and giggling at you the whole way through, your personalities really come through which I LOVE. I'm hoping our paths cross someday so we can enjoy a non-alcoholic beer in the sun! And maybe if I keep watching I might be encouraged to get my running trainers back out and open my C25K app again!
Thank you for the lovely warm comment ☺️ we have been trying hard to express ourselves more naturally so great to hear it's paying off. It's a steep learning curve! Yes get those running shoes out and we can go for a jog together before that alcohol free beer 🍺 Hope you are enjoying Turkey, looks incredible!

Ahh yes I think we see eye to eye there!
Very funny moment when it looked like Alan had returned... in a tutu and crazy wig with a motley collection of children 😄
Classic
I like the black and white out-takes at the end. And the whole vlog, of course. Warm sun....yum!
Haha thanks ☺️

Great video. Reminded of the time my partner gave me haircut in a lay-by on the North Yorkshire Moors. We got a few looks 😂👍
Haha gotta be done sometimes!
Always brilliant videos guys and this is no exception 👍👍👍🥰
Thank you kindly Sir

Thank you! Happy new year to you to.
Nice one guys, love the area, cant wait to get over in a couple of months time :)
Cheers Terry. It's a cracking place
You missed Valencia !!!! On the way back - stop off if you have the chance
Yes that is a very good point it was a shame we just ran out of time.

Funny you should say that, we are in Mojacar right now. Thanks for the tips!
Another great video, how much was the camping in Benidorm? And the parking in Alicante?
Cheers

Rotten Cotton aka Where are the Bandaids? ( UK version: Where are the plasters?)
🤔
that's a hot bod on that vehicle 😋
🚐👍
What’s the story about Cotton? I know it’s not seen as being environmentally friendly but is there more to it that I’m missing?

@@RunningOffGrid I normally stay on camp raco that’s a nice campsite
Hi what camp site were you in and can you just drive up with campervan or need to pre book and much per day ! Thanks
Villasol and you need to book online 👍 was about 20 euros a night I think

Can you reply with the link to that washing line system you have.
It's just washing line rope/paracord and some suction cups I bought off of Amazon. Works quite well though
@@RunningOffGrid Found em...cracking idea! 🙌
How much was it to camp 'there' but also, how much is it to camp in a place like that on average across Spain?
I would say on average about 20 Euros a night although probably not best to ask we don't normally use site's infact I think this is the only site we have ever stayed on in Spain.

Architecture is very boring in Benidorm but nature is really beautiful.
Yes I see what you mean there
