He deserves so much more than what he got, he even got cheated out of 2 K1 titles because of bias judges, which anyone who has half a brain can clearly see that Buakaw won those fights! I'd really like to meet him one day, he's a true LEGEND!!!
you can see the China fighter know that Buakaw usually dont attack opponent that hard in round 1, and he try to take out Buakaw in the first 10 seconds but failed then in round 2 you see Buakaw showing him what Buakaw is like if he increase fighting by 20% but China fighter face already start swelling, and running out of breath, throwing weak punches. and so in round 3, Buakaw tone down to 5%. Buakaw always have mercy, he has all the skill and chance to make his opponent bleed, but he stand down always, giving them some dignity to walk off the stage instead of being carried out. Buakaw not only won the fight, he is a role model of good sportsmanship and he made Thailand Proud, He is humble and sincere.

Buakaw won with his superior strength and his techniques and experience. But Tian Xin has a very good style and combination. In case if that last back-round-house kick landed on Buakaw it would changed the game for sure. Tian Xin's style is very good. But Buakaw is the favorite I suppose.
And if Buakaw had really used all his power on his kicks and strike with his opponent, he would never get to kick BuaKaw back. Buakaw tried hard not to go for the kill but rather play with his opponent.
That kick was cowardly. Because even if you missed, you are safe from any counter cos you are saved by rules of no hitting opponent on ground. It is a rule exploit and should never be allowed in a standing fighting sports. You should be still standing after throwing a back round house kick in a standing fight.

But after that, Buakaw was able to learn Tian’s strategies, use experience, patience, and maturity to not get sucked into an emotional conflict; the result was Buakaw making Tian gun shy with well placed mid section and head shots at closer range, forcing Tian to be more defensive and less offensive minded. Tian has excellent physical conditioning and was able to put up with a lot of the damage inflicted, but his tenacity, emotional control, and experience level became apparent very quickly as Buakaw dominated. Buakaw appeared a little cocky in the beginning as opposed to his usual game face; maybe he was testing and baiting Tian while downloading his strategy for the remaining rounds. That shows a shrewd and calculating Buakaw.

He was beaten, but not to KO. That is the way of thais. They don't actually want to cripple the opponent, just enough to dominate with steadfast or graceful victory. If that is enough to secure a win. Unless pissed off off course. Plus it's not really good idea to knock out China's representative in their homeland. There's been some exceptions like the other guy who kept kicking Kaw in the manhood.

I wouldn't call a fight or a fighter specifically best, but you may want to check on golden era guys from both technical and power divisions. To have a reference point search for "top 6 KO artists every thai boxer should study" "7 technicians every thai boxer should study" For west vs east you may check out Ramon Dekkers vs Coban is good. Ronnie Green is another westerner. For modern kick boxing adapters check on Sittichai Sitsongpeenong and Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao. These are smooth and technical with spectacular performance. Rodtang Jitmuangnon is tanky type, kinda smaller Buakaw. Saenchai is top technician. Giorgio Petrosyan is western technician.
