I did live at The Jane Hotel in the 80s at the same time that RuPaul did. I was there for 2 years. I was a struggling actor and it was an exciting time in my life. The highest of highs the lowest of lows. Going to Broadway Shows and friends who were gay dying of AIDS. I now live in Florida and when i go to NYC I always stay at The Jane Hotel. It has a spiritual place in my life.
I stayed there in 2017, it was great. The whole place just had a lovely charm to it. I'm going back to NYC for Christmas, and was going to stay there again, but they have renovations going on so I have had to find an alternative.
I'm an Australian and stayed here for a week in 2012 and I loved it. Even rode around Manhattan on that type of bicycle shown. And it was on that very bike whilst crossing over the Williamsburg Bridge that I rode past a friend who I had not seen since 1994 riding in the opposite direction.
I stayed at the Jane in May of 2019 and really enjoyed my stay. Yes the rooms are tiny. I did not mind or bothered by the size. I highly recommend the Jane, if you are up for an adventure and not a princess. 😁
Stayed in 1996 and again in 1999 when Hedwig opened with Ally Sheedy in the lead. Drag queens galore on the upper floors. That place was a trip. I think it was 40 bucks a night then. It was a good place to hide out when you wanted the world to go away for a while.

I loved my stay at the Jane. I too lost friends in the 80's to AIDS. What a terrible era. I'm sorry for your loss.

It's under renovation right now, and the prices are no longer cheap , cheap , now $200 and up a night

stayed there in 1993 - $20 per night - it was pre-renovation. Nasty but fun.
Cool place! Love it !

I have stayed at The Jane several times around 2010. I loved it. You meet
interesting, nice people in the common bathroom.
A hotel with a lot of history. It looks like a cool place.
I toured the hotel in its prior, more raw days. Made a YMCA look luxurious! Ps isn't it becoming a condo?
Um, it is “ the angry inch”, not itch. 😉
This looks like it was filmed on a potato
😂
