Imo more expensive stuff shouldn’t be straight up better since that’s too unfair for lower level players, they could be more versatile etc
You forgot an important aspect.The speed of missile is only 213 mph in searam while in crotale, its 272mph. And damage is also 2x than searam missile. Speed of missile makes the difference between whether aircraft will flare or not (for aircraft, flare takes 3s to recharge). Same is the case with missiles too. You will want the missile to be destroyed away from the ship so that it's shrapnel doesn't hit (or else it do almost same damage as a missile hit). For faster missiles, lasers are best (as faster missiles have very low durability). Missile based AA won't work well for hypersonic missiles as the reaction time of AA missile is far lesser than hypersonic one. That's why you must have seen AA missile spinning around the ship in circles after the missile hits.
It's as if AA missile is tensed and thinks 'wtf ! me messed up, m screwed 😥😥😥'

U should try a realistic simulator by launching missile not one by one but 2 or 3 in single salvo and when against plane bomber try to make it spam flares which will show which one better in real combat situation and if u need friend to help i gladly will cuz i dont have one 😅

Yes if torpedo are launched from mid air example from Strike fighter or bomber
And can’t counter if launched underwater
