I had a key cut on my worn out key, ordered two new fobs on eBay and used these simple instructions to program them both. My only issue is it seemed like it wasn't detecting the original or the second programmed key. I only had to hold down the button for more than 12 seconds to exit programming mode (a couple times) and they both work (all three counting the original)! Saved me hundreds. Thanks!

Worked perfectly for me. It didn't show the Ready for remote screen until after I pressed the stop start button the first time. But then I noticed I was programming remote #4. I bought this vehicle used is there a way to remove previous remotes from the vehicles programming?

The new remote should be programmed after the stop start button is pressed - the display should read "ready for remote 3" or 4,5,6 etc. However some vehicles only seem to show that message for a few moments right when the door is opened or closed.
Same thing happened to me. No messages. The truck just won’t start or activate. The only way to get it to start is using the remote start but then you can’t even take it out of remote start mode by pressing brake and ignition button. Please help

@PYR-Auto I assumed that and asked the vendor to send me another fob. I might have to buy some type of GM scan tool so I can figure this out. There is no way I would take it to GM for programming when I can buy something that will allow me to scan and adjust things in GM vehicles for what it would cost me to have the program the fob.

If it dont work and the top part is all worn, just take both fobs apart and swap tops. Just make sure the correct board is in it.

I have same, with push button start, and all that happens is my anti-tamper horn starts beeping after I open door after the 5 turns.

if you're getting the vehicle into programming mode but the vehicle is not responding to the remote then it is likely a problem with the key fob
