  • Jim spent some time with the Nonlinear labs C15 - an extremely playable instrument with Reaktor technology at its core. The C15 is the creation of Stephan Schmitt - one the founders of Native Instruments
    Jim Says:
"I sat down with the C15 not knowing what really to expect and what I found was an instrument that begged to played. Expressive in ways that only FM can be with a couple of assignable ribbon controllers that span the width of the instrument, and with a button for every parameter, the C15 is truly inspiring to play. I didn’t want to stop. Mostly cinematic and pad type sounds featured here though there are many keyboard, string and brass-type presets as well."

Having once owned a CS80 I totally understand the concept of this instrument. I could sit for hours just playing and tweaking. I had midi fitted to it but it ended up being totally superfluous as it took away the playability. The C15 even sounds a bit like the CS80 at times mainly due to the way you can actually play it. I find the “no midi” comments rather tiresome. Enjoy the sound and immerse yourself into how it can be manipulated, not how midi can make it sound pretty much like any other synth out there.

Mike Midi does not make a synth sound like another synth. It would just be nice to attach an 88-key controller for some people - or a poly AT keyboard if the C15 accepts such messages.

But, i also think the whole interface is so incredible nifty, that it would also make a perfect vst controller, if they added small lcd screens under all the knobs, so the content easily changes.. add 4 macro encoders to the right and a modulation controller to the left of the pitchstick..

Rubin’s yes, but no mod wheel with easy reach...no midi..no knobs for immediate edit of main parameters is too restrictive

una grave svista è stata che, quando si cambia suono.... il suono precedente si tronca di botto, rilasciando un rumore di fondo del cambio preset. Brutta cosa per un synth di quel prezzo.

      bullshit!
Else piano , violin/alto/cello, guitar, classic organ, etc... players .
At 4000€, it target pros, not amateurs. Saying otherwise is plain stupidity.
It target pros who like playing on keyboards live.
