It also helps that the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers suck. Like how people are supporting Atlanta United rather than the Atlanta Falcons.
I’m an Everton and Indy Eleven fan. I’d say it’s a bit more acceptable to root for 2 teams on different continents, plus I was an Everton fan before Indy Eleven even existed
I'm a fan of both Charlotte fc and Minnesota united figure having a team in 2 different conferences one being my home state the other being closer to where I live now.
I think you're always allowed to root for your local club, but it makes it hard when they're in the same conference. For example I'm a Philadelphia Union fan, but after living in Texas, I also pull for Austin FC in the west.
I’m a Quakes fan through and through, but now I live in DC. Heck, I’m going to DC games and rooting for them, but if they ever played against the Quakes I know where my true allegiance is. Support the team that’s closer to you, cause it makes going to the games more fun if you actually care if they win or not. Just never forget the history you’ve had with the other

Kinda reminds me in hockey, when the Nashville Predators came into existence, it coincided with the auto industry opening plants in the Nashville area from Detroit…so a lot of people from Detroit moved to Nashville and of course, most of which were Red Wings fans. Of course, they would go to games when the Wings were in town, but soon this group of wings fans soon became known as the “Pred-Wings”. Fans who grew up as Red Wings fans, but moved to Nashville and adopted the Predators as their new team.
I’m from NC and I’m thrilled for CLT FC. I commend you for sticking with the Fire. It’s why I never attached myself to an MLS club before, I’m a homer and I knew NC would get a team sooner or later. As soon as the team was announced, I was onboard.
Danny, love your channel, always have. You can add Toronto FC and the Toronto Lynx (USL or whatever it was called back then... distant memory, good riddance). The attendance did not matter. Lynx (aka Stynx) were awful and their attendance was abysmal. Not even 500 people at their matches. Toronto FC packed BMO Field from their first game and on. Although, the Lynx did give birth to the original supporters groups prior to Toronto FC... USECTOR formally Ultras Toronto and help hatch the Lumpact supporters... mercy beaucoupers! Btw, prior to joining MLS. We, at USECTOR, were envious of Chicago Fire and DC United supporters, but had a deep respect for their trailblazing approach to creating that RAW ATMOSPHERE that was desperately needed here in North America.
The only club I root for personally being my local team is San Antonio FC in the USL. I know it's not the same being that they're in two separate leagues, and I wouldn't say I'm a FC Dallas or Houston Dynamo fan but I tend to want them to succeed more so than any other MLS team (With Austin FC being a third MLS team I'd root for even though I have a personal love/hate relationship with them). i’m a lifelong sounders fan, and i’ll always bleed blue and green. but recently Inter Miami has become my second team. doesn’t mean i don’t love seattle and if seattle plays miami i will root for seattle 100%. it’s simply because it’s a team that “I” decided to support, the sounders are my dads team, so having a team that’s just mine is nice. so i get the feeling

If it succeeds, and I hope for their sake it does, no harm no foul, but if it doesn't, we're looking at Cincy 2.0 - a hole so deep it'll take years to get out. And with how high they've set the cost of attendance, they basically HAVE to get it right *IMMEDIATELY* or they'll bleed support, fast. The chief fan officer thing kinda is less interesting with the rumors around the main SG's founding - that Mint City Collective was just ownership hitting up the guys behind Roaring Riot (a Panthers fan group) to hype the bid. If that rumor is true, it feels more like ownership *anointed* a supporters group instead of anything organic. (That said, USL attendance especially should not be a factor for CLT deserving a team, since a lot of Charlotteans did not want to give money to the Independence's human garbage owner), I really hope I'm wrong, as a Hornets fan (hey we don't suck now!) Theres nothing wrong with caring about local teams, im in England myself and im a lifelong Arsenal fan and always will be, but i now live in Stoke-On-Trent about a mile away from Stoke City, i personally hope Stoke and Port Vale(another local club) do well, Arsenal will always be my number 1, but i love the optimism in the area when Stoke or Vale do well
I'd love to see Charlotte FC pull off record breaking attendance without resorting to something like 10 cent beer night. Granted the anarchy that brewed (pun not intended) is the reason why there will never be anything like that again.
Sorry one more comment 😳 Charlotte (and every team) should have some system where you book tickets, and depending on how many tickets sell the price comes down by some percentage. So for instance they start at $100, but if they sell 20k they go to $95, at 30k to $90 and so on. Maybe when the pandemic calms down though
You spoke about Seattle and Atlanta being the exception to playing out of a football stadium and I’m probably being pedantic here but you have said in a previous video that Gillette stadium is a great place to watch a soccer game and it does make sense for the revs to stay there. I know they’ve spoke about building a new stadium forever but is it actually gonna happen at this stage? Also, jumping the border, you’ve got the whitecaps playing out of BC Place and BMO field is shared with the Argonauts. That seems to be working out for them so far.

Ive felt a bit lost. I love Chivas de Guadalajara. so when Chivas USA was a thing, despite their performances being garbage, i still supported them. When they died, i couldnt support other CA clubs. Earthquakes wasnt my style, LA Galaxy were our rivals so i wouldnt support them, and LAFC felt like another LA clone to me. I want to support Sacramento, but my heart broke when their MLS spot was taken away (at least it felt like it was taken away).

While I appreciate that you are not switching teams after 20 years and just “like” Charlotte, I’m also not as convinced there’s as much to like as you. Given, I don’t live there so that’s a big reason but I find more to dislike honestly. I hate artificial turf. I hate shared NFL stadiums. I hate their name being another boring “City Name FC”. The PSL licenses will make things really interesting. I’m not convinced they can fill that stadium. Their crest is average at best and if I remember right, you’re not a circle crest fan are ya? I’m glad MLS is finally going to the Carolinas but I think they really needed their own stadium. I wish them luck unless they’re playing my team of course. 🤷🏻♂️
STL City was the first to have a fan officer with Matt Sebek being the CXO or chief experience officer who is in charge of fan experience. Charlotte is just copying us 😏
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with supporting multiple teams, I support Galaxy and LAFC. I also passively support Atl the timber’s. IMO just consider yourself evolving into a fan of the league rather than a single team.
I feel a similar way with LAFC being my team, and Sacramento joining who are honestly just lit. But the way I look at it, same way there are teams I dislike the most (cough TimbersSoundersRedBull) there are teams I like the most. I guess that's LAFC, Sacramento, Dynamo. I also kinda like the Galaxy and Quakes as well as LAFC, now that's REAL cheating :D
the way i look at it as a Norwich supporter, your club is your club through and through and you always stand by then even when they’re awful, so don’t cheat on your wife because you see a prettier one walking down the street

Yeah me personally I will always be a Fire fan even if I were to move out of the Chicago area. If you love the Fire, it will be extremely hard to cheer for any other club. Yes I know this club is a dumpster fire but I always have hope every season that they will turn it around.
I don’t support the fire cause of their performances, I support them cause as a Chicago native it’s the team I grew up with. I’m with this shit team no matter what
@@WangMotions Pretty much the same for me, I refuse to support any euro teams over the Fire. I was raised in Chicago this is my team not some Premier League team or La Liga team that I might never see play live. My family and friends give me so much crap for supporting the Fire cause they are a bad team but I refuse to give up on them because it’s Chicago.

Ive felt a bit lost.
I love Chivas de Guadalajara. so when Chivas USA was a thing, despite their performances being garbage, i still supported them. When they died, i couldnt support other CA clubs. Earthquakes wasnt my style, LA Galaxy were our rivals so i wouldnt support them, and LAFC felt like another LA clone to me. I want to support Sacramento, but my heart broke when their MLS spot was taken away (at least it felt like it was taken away).

While I appreciate that you are not switching teams after 20 years and just “like” Charlotte, I’m also not as convinced there’s as much to like as you. Given, I don’t live there so that’s a big reason but I find more to dislike honestly. I hate artificial turf. I hate shared NFL stadiums. I hate their name being another boring “City Name FC”. The PSL licenses will make things really interesting. I’m not convinced they can fill that stadium. Their crest is average at best and if I remember right, you’re not a circle crest fan are ya? I’m glad MLS is finally going to the Carolinas but I think they really needed their own stadium. I wish them luck unless they’re playing my team of course.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with supporting multiple teams, I support Galaxy and LAFC. I also passively support Atl the timber’s. IMO just consider yourself evolving into a fan of the league rather than a single team.

I feel a similar way with LAFC being my team, and Sacramento joining who are honestly just lit. But the way I look at it, same way there are teams I dislike the most (cough TimbersSoundersRedBull) there are teams I like the most. I guess that's LAFC, Sacramento, Dynamo. I also kinda like the Galaxy and Quakes as well as LAFC, now that's REAL cheating :D
