Great question... Yes, I think it would be a preference... It may also depend on the situation... If you were playing very softly, then you may not want to bury the drum beater so much, and try and play lighter into the bass drum... But with louder situations, it wouldn't matter.... But, I think if you can play lighter, and still bury the beater, it wouldn't matter... Really good question... Thanks
My inability to read drumset sheet music combined with my difficulty hearing kick drums makes this hard for me to learn from, so I can't quite figure out where the cross-stick fits with the kick.
