    The dog's handler said that Midnight's forte is drug searches, but he can search for people. The other officer near him said that they would contact the state prison to get their dog(s) that search for humans. Midnight still did his best. (but yes, the neighbor was the key factor in finding the boy).

    • @FrenkTheJoy
      @FrenkTheJoy 3 месяца назад +231

      Oh, that explains it! I thought it was weird they had a lab doing the person search, it's usually german shepherds that do people searches and labs that do drugs and bombs. Midnight is an extra good boy, then!

      @jadeshay1 3 месяца назад +163

      Thank you for that clarification!! I completely misunderstood that part, it makes a lot more sense now why Midnight was on the struggle bus a little. I noticed that he had a hard time following scents as a trail and kept trying to signal that he had ‘found’ the scent in the officers hand, makes a LOT more sense now as to why!

      I'm thinking of getting a Mastiff next... Either an English or a Boerboel, depending on what pairing comes up at the right moment. Probably an English type.
      I've got my ear to the ground and the money put aside.
      I've gotta get another service dog at some point in the next six months to go through the assistance dog program here in Australia, it's so hard to get a spot and I wasn't ready last year. I had a Rottweiler last time (I didn't actually get him with the intention of putting him through the program, but he was perfect) however I just can't find one as perfect as my Rollo was for me and I think a Mastiff suits my particular circumstances a little better now.
      He's going to have to come to work with me (I own a company in the performing arts world) and Mastiffs are just that little bit less work driven and happier to chill with more people coming and going. I'm experienced and will give him the best upbringing, I just love having crazy looking dogs like that, as I'm sure you know walking a large dog like a fully grown Rottweiler or a Mastiff is like walking down the street with a freakin rockstar much of the time. Sometimes it's annoying, but it really helps me socialise and Mastiff types are well proven to be suited to my particular assistance needs.
      Anyway, I know how tough it is to move forward when you lose one that was your best friend and although you never replace them it's an opportunity to find that unconditional love once again. This year I'm ready to go again.

      I watch tracking dog videos for deer recovery and yes carrying the scent on the trail is going to confuse the dog. Scent is going to be blowing off that blanket and will smell stronger than the trail does. The extra officers coming on the trail with the dog and his handler were also fouling up the trail. They kept getting ahead of and circling back and spreading out. Should've been just Midnight and the handler searching the immediate area he was last seen on to pick up the trail faster.

I mean they had a natcotic dog looking for a child when they should have used the prison dog like the other cop suggested. And I know for a fact a toddler will not get fat in 10 minutes. They wont walk for very long bc they are tiny and theh tire easy especially in the woods. The dog didnt find him the cop made it look like he did cause the dog lost his track twice and his ego was busted when the other cop suggested they use the prison dog that searches for actual humans. We don't see enough positive videos like this. Very refreshing and wholesome. My favorite police channel on RUclips

    Mom needs to put up a back fence, especially after this. It’s amazing how such young kids can disappear so far, so quickly with no help, on those little legs and through that terrain.

    If not for that neighbor, they would not have found him. God sent that neighbor out into the right spot at the right time. ❤
