There is no move that this team can make (keeping Steph) that will put them in the top tier with OKC, Boston, Cavs… And paying Kuminga $40+ million while he develops over the next 4 years will not put them in the top tier (and not worth the money). The unstated problem is Steph’s salary. He is certainly worth the $$ from a “draw” perspective. People want to see him play. But he is not worth the $$ from a production perspective. He can no longer carry the team through the regular season. He hasn’t done that since 2019. The CBA is written so you need two+ players in their prime to win a chip and Steph is no longer that. The Warriors need to add TWO all stars in their prime (through trade or free agency).
