I visit the grave sites of people who were dear to me several times each year and in particular one grandma who was a saint. Everyone who ever knew her, loved her. I always have to make a special visit to say hello to her every Palm Sunday because she always loved to make beautiful works of art by twisting the palms into all kinds of designs. Yeah Angelina dedicating this to her grandmother gives it a strong emotional story to it. She makes me feel that story as well with her singing. Technically another live performance of this song in Norway this summer was dedicated to her grandma. She loves this song it seems, and she posted most of this exact performance on tiktok on Whitney's birthday with words suggesting it's for her. Semantics though, thinking of it as words to her grandma do very much change the meaning for me. While dealing with time spent away from grandma which seems rare, because of health issues yet, so dealing with worry and thoughts of mortality as well, I think it makes loads of sense a few weeks later she dedicated this song to her at a different concert. This performance I think was only a day after she flew there, so both make sense. Almost a timeline of meaning. Poor girl wearing down as time goes by without grandma attached to her hip where she likes her, as grandma had to stay back in the states. What was a tribute to Whitney, took on a personal meaning as time goes on and life happens. I don't think we know what's going on with grandma, had to be serious not to travel and be the worlds greatest bodyguard. But she's still kicking, and they have a strong family that knows how loved ones live on in them. As sad as the thought is, grandma done real good and AJ will be supported, strong and loved whenever that day comes.
I've heard that she sang this song twice. They had technical issues the first time so she sang it again. A lot of performers may have been thrown by that, but watching this video you couldn't tell if it even bothered her
