    The kid gave his opinion and Ebro started attacking. . Even the guy was trying to show love, the n*gga ignored and started playing with his f*cking beard. I respect Ebro, but this was not professional. .. rather the kid was right or wrong. its obvious Ebro doesn't take criticism well

      What? No lol everything Ebro was saying was true and Astro sitting there with his nose in the air like that man he needs tough love, nothing in life is just handed to you he needs to learn that. Its been couple years since he's been off of The Voice and he stillll doesnt get it? He still thinks he can just walk into Hot97 and ask and they'll be like oh okay ya no problem? Im a giant Pro Era fan I been to every single concert when Joey and the Pro Era team showed up to my city, I watched and supported him when he had absolutely nothing, but he grew from it and what now he has his first album out and sold 58,000 copies during release week. Astro NEEDS to learn in order to make it you gotta do the work. Nobody wants to work with someone who is too big headed for their own good. He's gotta learn that even if he's got the lyrics, he's nobody until the work is put in.

      +cynthia syllables Wtf are you talking about? Astro's been grinding since he was nine years old, before X Factor! He's done the hole in the wall clubs and the school shows and a bunch of other shit. Hot 97 even had him doing shows since he was twelve years old. Its politics and funding behind tours and it ain't right that real talent don't get to be heard because they're not willing to sign their lives away to get on. Radio is suppose to break artist, that's what they did when they had integrity! The kid is dope, play his damn record!

      +Chris Sheppard FOH, he wasn't giving an opinion he was attacking Ebro's profession. Ebro was right. You hear so many artist get so upset about how hip-hop is changing and how horrible it is, but they never do anything to grasp the listener. They never think outside the box, they rather approach it with a conservative sort of view and pay homages to the art that has been created. Nothing wrong with that, but people want new shit. People want creative shit. You can hate all you want, but it isn't Ebro's job to make you hot, it's your job. He can only play your shit on the radio. And even still he's risking a lot, because if the people don't like, they don't tune in.

    • @cynthiadeen8089

      +redinkpenner1 i know that too but im saying like Ebro said you can be 25 ill still look at you the same way, just because youre 18 doesnt mean anything. Hes still young. I loved his performances on x factor and the only song i really like after all of that he posted "He Fell Off" which was good and it also proved his point like he's trying to do what hes gotta do to make it. But he's just got a lot more work to do. If there were concerts in my city that said Astro was the opening performance id go to it just to see him. Back in the day there was a random Ludacris concert in my city and Joey performed (before anyone really knew who he was). I only went because of Joey because i wanted to see what he got, i wanted to see him do the work and make it big, make the crowd know who he is and that he's serious and loves what he does. Astro's young, he needs the tough love he needs to know there needs to be more work, better marketing, more promotional work, more publicity.

      Also you guys got to give Ebro some credit for having Astro up on Hot 97 which is a step in the right direction in terms of marketing even though he can't give Astro any spins. Ebro had one of my favorite Artists up their named Boaz who has a hit song called Intuition who's also a underground artists, But this kid he has up their name Astro is the shit and because he had him up their I have discovered another hiphop artist to add to my collection. Yes this kid is hot and has a wright to complain, but he's complaining to the wrong party especially when complaining to Ebro because underground fans have realize is that Ebro doesn't own the radio station. He must play what the programming director tells him to play. Giving Astro a invite tells me deep down inside Ebro does care about hiphop, but he doesn't control the politics of the game so he doesn't have any say-so

  • @prettybajan123

    This was so painful to watch. Ebro cannot keep his composure when someone disagrees with him. Stro was better composed even when Ebro was being rude. It literally won't hurt Hot 97 to play one or two songs from the block every now and then. And Stro is right, there are actually a lot of people without access to internet or a laptop believe it or not.

      Break records? This ain't the 90's. This is 2017. why should he break records when niggas got RUclips and soundcloud? . Most people aren't looking to Ebro to find the next hot rapper. The music fans discover the next hot rapper by themselves. The radio plays music that people like. They can't put anybody on the radio. I don't understand why this kid is complaining. This kid is getting exposure from doing this interview. If people give a fuck, they will search his name on RUclips and share his music with other people.

      It's a different world now with the Internet .. Dudes sayin that the radio needs to break records got shit backwards and are stuck in the golden era of the 90's when dudes would stay outside HOT 97 trying to get the DJ their tape and hope for a shot on the radio .. Now it's all about the Internet, you gotta make yourself hot .. You put your shit up on soundcloud or datpiff or whatever and start gettin millions of downloads then the radio will start playin your shit .. Ebro is right, the game done changed .. Back in the day the DJ and radio was where you hoped to start and get heard BUT NOW the radio is the pinnacle and if you're not hot you're not gettin on .. Remember back in the day artists used to go diamond selling crazy albums but that shit don't happen anymore either .. Times change people you gotta adapt or get left behind .. All these new artists that got trophies just for showin up for little league feel like radio owes them something!! Haha I typed that as Ebro was sayin it

      @ArchieFBaby1 9 лет назад +3

      +SOMEBODYGOTSTOSAYIT Patterson .. I remember all that shit too but shit is different now .. I listen to the radio maybe three times a week but I'm always checking the Internet for new music .. This is the first time I heard of this dude Astro and I'm gonna go straight to RUclips to check for his music .. The radio used to be the first stop but now it's the last stop .. The Internet changed the game .. If you wanna hear a song at any point in the day you're gonna go to the radio?!? FOH we all know that we all go to the Internet whether it be RUclips, DatPiff, Soundcloud, ect .. The radio HAS to play what's hot cuz they got crazy money comin from advertising and they need to play what's hot aka what's gonna get the most listeners .. There's so many other ways to get heard now that I feel like the actual music is suffering cuz now anybody can put music on the Internet and they think cuz they get 20K views on RUclips they deserve a shot on HOT97 .. Shit don't work like that anymore

      We don't hear Astro out in Cali. I'm from the bay, and even the most dope underground rappers don't even get air play. E40,Mac Dre and the whole hyphy scene rappers were a result of the popularity on the streets. They got radio play AFTER they dropped hella records and tracks. They were popular and recognized here locally, but weren't nationally recognized till the radio played their shit. It's the game.

    STRO obviously understands the core values of hip hop and his music shows that. STRO is talking about supporting rap that is true to the essence of the genre. Ebro is talking about the business of playing records on the radio. That's why they seem at odds, because there's two different convos happening at the same time. Ebro is also wanting the young man to pay some dues and grind some more. STRO is wanting radio to build his audience before he grinds. Radio is controlled by demand, they don't create demand. When rap was in its infancy, radio worked for rappers that way but no longer, the saturation and maturation of rap has changed radio for rappers. As an "older head" I get Ebro's frustration with the work ethic of the youngblood but he could have schooled the respectful young man with some respect. But knowing how savy Ebro is, he may have done that knowing a little controversy will get the video more views therefore getting the young man more exposure. STRO build your audience.

    Unfortunate that Ebro couldn't be a MAN and take it upon his self to try and school Astro in an OG type of manner. Wasn't Diddy just on here talking about how he wants to see NYC artists do better and stay true to their sound? And when a young dude comes up there who is doing his thing and has his own movement, he gets shitted on...SMH. This reminds me of when Sean Price (RIP) spoke about this same topic and Ebro disrespected him, as a NY Hip Hop OG and referred to him and other rappers like him "MINOR LEAGUE RAP/RAPPERS". NYC needs to be cleansed of these weirdo niggas.

    "Imma Boss" was not recorded before the MMG deal (well maybe) but it was another popular record that Ebro is thinking of... :::Googles::: ..Ebro is thinking of "Rose' Red." That was the song that got Ross' attention after Meek Millz' Philly following retweeted to Ross that he should jump on the remix since Ross at the time started calling himself Rozay and was promoting that brand. Ross did and the rest is as they say "history." I remember Meek mentioning this in numerous interviews speaking on how he met Rick Ross.

Radio can push major artist who have major backing!!! Young rappers got to realize if you want to be about BARS...stay online and put out mixtapes and spit BARS!!! +Tim Davis I Think The Point Of What Is Being Said Is These NY Artists Shouldnt Have To Compromise Their Sound To Get Radio Play. You Shouldnt Have To Make A Dance Record, Or A Pop Crossover Record, Or A Record Full Of Autotune In NY Of All Places To Get Your Song On The Radio. NY Radio And Radio In General Used To Be About Breaking New Artist And Putting The People On To New Music. The New Format Hot 97 Uses For Example, Makes No Sense. They Tell You To Blow Up On The Internet And Then They'll Come Back And Regurtitate What Most Have Already Heard On The Internet. If Thats The Case What Is Radio Still Here For? It Seems Like There Isnt Any Real Integrity Anymore When It Comes To Hip Hop And Radio It's All A Money Game. I Get It. But Shitting On A Young Artist Trying To Stay True To The Culture Is Wrong. Diddy Was Just Talking About This In His Interview. Its Not Right. Stro's Point Was Valid

    • @jman1562001
      @jman1562001 9 лет назад

      Bro its ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT MONEY...THE Music Business is about making money off selling hit records and albums!!! Radio stations first priority is to gain a audience and sell commerical time for a advertiser to sell YOU AND I Products!!! Any song that can stay in rotation to help facilitate that process will BE IN ROTATION!!! Usually only on average 15-20 songs are in that lineup....was Astro song as good as the rest of the songs...its subjective but given the numbers that Hot 97 gets from Arbitron and Nielsen, callers said that the songs you hear today are in FACT REQUESTED SMH!!! Matter fact, Hip-Hop has always been anti-radio and yet now people want to get on RADIO with REAL HIP HOP LOL!!! THE IRONY OF IT ALL!!!

    You will only hear bangers and singles 90% of the time on hip hop stations because the main stream only wants that, the general public doesn't give a fuck about lyrics or art, they only care about simple music usually. For example, how many times did you hear Freddie Gibbs and Madlibs " Pinata" album on the radio? That was a great album with good lyrics and great music production yet nothing on the radio? Ebro talkin about putting in work on the streets when he knows bobby shmurda or niggas like tyga did not do shit to make it on the radio. Radio plays what sells, they are not going to gamble on playing real hip hop 24/7.

      +foreverflylove That is what I feel would work, real hip hop fans don't even turn on the radio because the radio only wants to play the same shit all week, also most of the things are club music . We find our music online and also from the street buzz.

      Jeremy Williams I don't think stro was asking for handouts or anything of that sort, he was so simply asking for the support of NY radio station because whether you like it or not (generally speaking) radio does have an impact on how the listeners perceive the music because when the first place I heard fetty wap was on radio and because they played it over and over again, it grew on me and o eventually looked up the song, so that's the impact stro was speaking about and that's what he wants to happen with his music, if they play his song during the hours where they know that a wider audience is tuned in, the music can be heard by more people which will eventually lead to stro's following growing. that's not a handout that's support

    Why is Ebro acting less mature than Stro. Honestly I didn't know he was a serious rapper but of course it's because he isn't being played on the radio. I think it's wrong to think people only WANT to hear dance and club tracks. Why would we want to hear that in a car? It's just people don't know that these other artists exist because they get no radio play. These people are getting old and don't understand that the younger 90's generation is tired of what is played on the radio. It all sounds the same. Even non generic artists like j cole and kendrick only get their most basic hits played on radio. Radio is becoming pure trash.

Most rappers just sit there and take. I don't understand how this dude is literally there screaming at the boy and threatening not play his music because he disagrees with is opinion. AND I don't even listen to this Astro dude, but everything he said was correct. The song he had wasn't that bad either.

    Anyone ever figure NY rap just aint as appealing as it used to be. The south and west side are running the game and they are here to stay. Even chicago has more clout than NY right now and thats cold hard facts. Asap is the last big artist to come out of NY for a reason, and he wouldnt have made it without using southern type-beats and styles

    • @foreverflylove
      @foreverflylove 9 лет назад +1

      +Aaron Murrell the south and west are not running any game, hip hop has always been about skills, no one in the south has skills like ny mc's, no one in chicago has skills like ny mc's, no one in the west has skills like ny mc's, these are facts, jadakiss alone shits on every coast not to mention a g rap or nas or rakim etc etc etc you can lie all you want about clout but at the end of the day we know thats bullshit, chief keefs clout has nothing to do with being able to rap cuz he can't, kendrick lamar would be a nobody if he was from ny he lost a battle to charles hamilton of all people, there is no such thing as southern type beats your just too young to know where hip hop came from, luke got his sound from afrika bambata, dre got his sound from epmd, whodini, etc stop the hype and the lies, in order to run rap you have to be the best at rapping, south rappers can barely speak english, the west has kendrick lamar 1 rapper and last i checked he has nothing on any of the legends, please stop the bullshit

      You bringing up old dudes who aint been hot in 10-15 years, im talking about now, NY lost all there talent they not hot no more. Facts J.cole and Kendrick the best lyricist out there rn with any buzz. To run rap people have to know who you are and you have to sell records. nobody gives a damn about jadakiss no more and you know that. Yall been relying on Jay Z to keep yall hot ever since 50 went out Thank God for Fab as well or NY wouldve been off the map. With the exception of Asap who do y'all have thats hot right now. Joey badass crowd is still basically the same and i dont know when hell ever really get his overdue press. The fact is at every club across the world.your hearing southern music 100x more than any NY tracks and thast facts. Regardless of how talented you are as a lyricist people dont care about that no more, hip hops has changed, and yall lacking
