Yaa sure but paper doesn't remain for longer time. It may tear off by wind or rain. But foam is waterproof and durable.

I have taken 1 ltr bottle size, you can go for pepsi,cola 750ml -1-2 ltr bottle. That will give more space to work and will look good.
Small size bottle doesn't work good.
