since ~november 2015 when I picked up this game seriously for speedrunning I've played about 1000 hours between practice and doing runs. When you get to a high level zips aren't really that hard anymore and it's just about little things that can save or loose time.
I actually found this out like a week before I did the run and I was trying to fix my pronunciation but I failed :( my bad.
If anyone's wondering, Curly is a mistranslation, the original text is kaari which is supposed to mean Kali, not Curly.
Kali as in the Hindu deity?
yeah. quoting castlevania wiki, "Her name is a mistranslation of Kālī, the multi-armed Hindu goddess of eternal energy."
Yes, that's why he transforms into a deity when he uses the soul :)

Just letting you know, Claimh Solas is Irish for Sword of Light, and is pronounced as "Clive Sull-iss". It was the name of a nationalist newspaper in Ireland if that's any help, just thought Id help with the pronunciation. :)

In my opinion this is the best castlevania game ever.
Nope, on GBA you also have Circle of the Moon. The problem with Aria and Dawn of Sorrow are that they are too easy... and Soma is really not an interesting character imo.
Aria of Sorrow is easily up there with the likes up SOTN.
@@selensbelgiangachikoi3190 Man, you and I have wildly different opinions. I played through and finished for the first time both Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance just recently and thus started Circle of the Moon. I'm around half way through and it is EASILY the worst GBA Castlevania by far. It has the laziest level design I've ever seen in any Castlevania, the least interesting characters (which is particularly special because I don't think highly of any Castlevania characters), and the clunkiest movement/combat of the Metroidvania genre.That last one would be fine if it were billed as a Classicvania, but instead it's caught in this godawful middle ground because it doesn't know what it wants to be. It has been a massive and frustrating disappointment

I think it`s a nice gesture that the owner/owners of this channel changed the title and the runner`s name to reflect that change

I picked up a mint GBA Micro for just that reason. It's really hard getting legit Castlevania cartridges - be sure to check the font of the plastic Nintendo logo on the cart! Fake ones almost always have a thinner font.

The DS game is the sequel, Dawn of Sorrow, not the GBA one which is Aria of Sorrow.

Can someone explain the RNG manipulation?
the 'rng value' is 0 when you enter from suspend. by doing certain moves in sequence you can manipulate drops.
the value changes with your input.. and lets say soul drops on rng value 60. you move to make sure it is 60 when the thing dies

but why is RNG changing dependent on how you move?
why?, because computers aren't random. a random function is a function that you put in a 'seed' value into to make it seem like it is random. (since the seed value is changed when you do button presses)
so they manipulate the seed value that they throw into the 'random' generator and it results in getting the same value (in this case, a soul drop) each time
