A lesser Parker beat Hughie who didnt throw a punch. This Parker would absolutely destroy Hughie. Parker has earned his elite status.

Fury doesn’t have the fighters mentality ,, he’s far to cautious and has never left everything in the ring ,, he has the ability and can certainly take a punch ,, but he’s not a do or die fighter .
Nobody with eyes thought Fury beat Parker...even the bought and paid for judge only gave a draw...118-110 x 2 was generous...
Anyone who thinks Hughie won that fight was stoned when watching it.
I wonder how hard it was for Peter to come to terms with Hughie not being 'a baby' anymore. It seems like the ring rust will be his go to explanation now.

@@gb5584 I take the point, but I was making the joke because every interview I have ever seen of Peter Fury about Hughie is him explaining away a bad performance. I get that he has to be positive and supportive but it is always explained as an excuse rather than real praise.

Let’s be blunt here, most boxers now particularly the Fury clan are chasing the Saudi big bucks not belts are titles. Hughie is a very average British heavyweight and that is his level he has not progressed nor improved enough to trouble the top ten world fighters.

Hughie lost to povetkin and pulev, both gatekeepers for the next level. I know he’s had a really hard time with the pimples and the toxic blood etc but even though I agree that he was unlucky not to get the nod in the Parker fight, I don’t think he laces the boots of any of the top guys anymore. Those seven years he’s been in and out are the years he needed to come along the most.
To be fair the guys you mentioned are good fighters. And look at Parker where he is now.
We shouldn't make hasty judgments about the Hughie fight at this point. It's still too soon to assess his abilities. It's impressive that he and his father have faced many obstacles in his life. It's not just ring rust, but also prolonged inactivity due to various debilitating illnesses and diseases. Hughie has shown determination and courage, which is evident at this stage.
Hughie stepped up in quality 3 times and every time because he just tried to survive , the Fury’s are a strange family with all really big guys but seem to carry no power
