  • Today I install 14 LEDs into this one engine, and use up all 10 lighting outputs on the ESU Loksound V5 decoder. Enjoy!

    Nice job! I just did one of my AEM-7s with a Loksound 5 Direct DCC decoder with built in keep alive. It's nice because the LED resistors are built on to the board. I have it on my channel.

    Thank you for sharing this upgrade video. I'm looking to upgrade several American GK Amtrak E60ch & E60ma electrics to DCC w/ the full lighting package. Your approach is a big help towards planning these upgrades.

    I genuinely can’t believe you have the balls to pull this off…I would’ve used a decoder buddy instead of hardwiring everything like that

      Thanks lol, but this was relatively straight forward. In case you didnt know, most of my other installs involved hardwiring 21 pin decoders...aka soldering fine wires to each of the pins on the 21 pin plug. I got videos talking about that too in case you were curious. I would argue that this is much easier by comparison. Cheers!
