    It's crazy how much has changed in just a short time. In 2015 I was scouring the internet to find good handheld gaming devices that weren't proprietary.
    And I got the GPD XD. And then I backed the GPD Win. And it was amazing to just even be able to play all these games on a portable device even though there were a lot of compromises.
    And less than 8 years later we have a pocketable fully functional gaming laptop thay is more powerful than some regular laptops.

  • @exodous02
    @exodous02 Год назад +59

    They should add a rail for the grips, so they can be slid on and off. For a quick game I probably can live without them but if I'm traveling I'd throw those in my bag as well. Just an idea.

    • @dreamingthelife
      @dreamingthelife Год назад +2

      yeh I really want rails too!, or a grip that the mini clips into, similar to the controller grips made for phones
      unfortunately they probably have the final molds already made.

    • @exodous02
      @exodous02 Год назад +2

      @@dreamingthelife Well, the bottom doesn't seem to be done yet so I have my fingers crossed. I hope that how they connect the grips is just the first draft. The grips seem to be 3D printed they look like they're not finalized either. It seems like a janky way to connect grips, and a little to big of a hassle to connect.
      If nothing else someone could design and print a rail that connects with the same holes as what they have now. Make two grips to cover the rails, one set could just be thicker rubber feet and then another version would be grips.

I'd take lecture notes on it using the built in keyboard, and if I really needed to sit down and study for a couple of hours in one spot, I could connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and external screen. It was just so awesome for productivity, and I could even use it on the bus ride home, again with the in built keyboard, without needing a lot of space to open a full laptop. This device looks really promising. I'll have to keep my eye out for it. :-)

    Another think I noticed is they put both the D-Pad and the buttons towards the center and leave the thumbsticks on the outside. I prefer this for classic games as it was straining my right thumb on the Win Max 2 to reach to the outside. It would be cool if there was a way to swap things around, say I'm playing a game that needs a thumbstick over the d-pad or buttons I would want to move them towards the center, but having the tumbsticks on the outside is the best layout for me.

    I've always wanted more devices in the 3DS form factor, this is super neat!
    I do still wish they made a cheaper, keyboardless version for those of us who would want to run SteamOS on this thing and use the controller for all UI navigation.

    I got the win 4 7640u, and being used to the z1 extreme I couldn’t deal with the performance loss. I am returning that (Amazon) and I finally gave in and I got this mini coming. 64 gig ram 2 tb top end model. Def overkill with the ram but at least I don’t have to worry about juggling 16 gig of ram. Can’t wait.

    1. Your hands seem like it will be covering the speakers when using the joystick/buttons?
    2. Without the grip attached, is there enough airflow underneath the device when sitting on a surface (desk etc)?
    Please test the hinge and microsd for issue when you get the actual device.

    Man so cool. I was just putting tape over the M.2 SSD cover on the GPD Win 2 for my 7 year old son. Roblox marathon sessions run hot 🔥

    2 Things:
    1) Comparison vs 7640U?? (Including heat!? -- Literally no one does these and it's annoying.)
    & 2) Where'd you get the dope Zelda skin for the mini? (Seems like it fits perfectly.) And if this is going in / out of my pocket all the time that's a MUST have. | If anyone knows pls lmk!! ❤

    How does the thumb typing compared to full size ones like Win Max 2?

    how does it compare to the flipstart? the micropc? side by side with the win 2?
    it would be nice if there was a way to slide and lock/unlock the grips so you can put them on/take them off without needing a screwdriver yet keep it pocketable. in storage mode, the grips could lock to each other, so you’re dealing with one piece and won’t be too unwieldy.
