1st video, it is an absolute pleasure to watch a craftsman in a dispose and replace rather than repair world. New sub for sure, looking forward to the next vid.
E24 wing rust (front section) begins in the spot welded join between the wing and the reinforcing/locating bracket. When I rebuilt these I welded the bracket on edge to edge thus eliminating a moisture trap. E24 wings also rot along the top where the wing to inner wing section is spot welded to the main wing panel. When they rot there it's game over.
Thanks for showing the repair on the bottom front corner of the door! I have my MGB door to repair and this gives me the idea on how to tackle it! Keep up the great work!!!
I honestly hope Matt is keeping this one 😮 how many hours do you have in this this mate 😲 rust and rust topped of with some more rust 😅 at least Matt and Colin got you to 100k 😎💪🏼
Passion plus craftsmanship is what amounts to mastery in any craft and Ryan has it in spades! What a job well done! This 6 series by all accounts was only good for interior bits according to the rest of us mere mortals but Ryan is a revivalist amongst a sea of destructors! Breathing air back into this destitute 6 series was nothing short of a Herculean task and yet he does it with a smile on his face! The very last of a dying breed! For what it is worth you sir have my unwavering respect and gratitude!
Once again amazing work, really love your relaxed attitude and meticulous attention to detail but once you have completed these cars you must take a break maybe pop over see freddy get some sunshine and maybe help him with his P1 he needs someone's help
Am I the only one that gets a chill down their back, like nails on a chalk board, every time i see bare metal lent up against new (any in fact) finished paint? Great work and superb job 💪🏽
Thanks for the video. These are the hard parts, because doors, wings, and bonnet have so many bends and edges and holes. Then they all have to line up and look good. You show us how much work it takes, but you make it look easy. Can't wait to see it together!
I know he got the car for free. But I found two 635 proper M for sale for under 5k now they would have been an amazing rebuild to watch and worth the work. P.s keep up the good eork just wish I could afford to get our cars worked on but you and your team top guys 😊
The outside panels on the shell need rubbing down as they will be painted (roof and rear quarters). It's the cabin, engine bay, inside boot and underside I don't want to scratch :)
What do YCR and Football have in common? Answer: They both reflect life - ups and downs, drama, hard work, excitement, joy, beauty, rhythm, art, skills.
@@yorkshirecarrestoration your page popped up over Xmas and I binge watched all of this series in 2 days. Great work and really interesting. I'm a wood machinist of 18yrs with no fabrication or welding knowledge. Cheers for posting Ryan
I like your work. I like how you do full welding and when you've finished grinding that you can't see the repair. All good. The BMW Wing. surly with the amount of time it's taken you in man hours and parts and sanding grinding pads etc, it would have been a lot easier to simply buy a new wing. I have to say that you are really skilled as you are a fabricator and made some of those parts look easy to make. I've made a few parts and it's not as easy as it looks.......... "Respect" Keep up the good work and will await your next video. Who's doing the painting of the BMW when it's ready?
Outstanding progress Ryan. My first impression from you guys was you and Steve using the chassis rails as a hammer rack. Hilarious 😅😅😅 Greetings from NZ.
Hello 👋 good buddy Ryan i know one thing for sure you are doing a good winging job he he he 😂.. i love to watch you do your magic 🎩 captain yorkshire. You have the best personality your just a jolly good man and I am proud to know you.
I realise this is very much a fabrication channel, but have you considered using fibreglass front wings? It would not only save a huge amount of time but 7kg in weight too, oh and they don't rust! Have to add that's some great workmanship and your perseverance is next level!
You guys do amazing work, there’s no question, but why in the world won’t you source new fenders (wings)!!! This is so much work for a part that’s easily replaceable …
Wyrzuć tą reperaturkę "Ship" i zrób nową większą. Utnij w prostej linii większa część błotnika. To będzie łatwiejsze do spawania i mniej się wygnie. Na koniec wyklepiesz i wyprostujesz 😊 ułatwisz sobie robotę robiąc też wzór z papieru. Nie warto wycinać wszystkiego przed zrobieniem reperaturki.
Good point, however I wanted to leave as much of the original there as possible. Also at the edges there are tricky bends and shapes to form the edge if the wing and the start of the arch. I wanted to leave these intact
Will the powder coating be used as a primer, so you can seal all the seems before painting? And man, you need a blasting booth. Removing all the paint and rust is so labor intensive and it takes so much time and effort that I hope for you guys you will be able to get one some day.
This is likely to sound a pretty dumb question so apologies in advance! The door that had a lost of rust between the 2 skins, can you not seperate a skin to make your work a lot easier, and you can get to all the rust?
Surly in some cases it would be quicker and easier to just replace the wing, don’t get me wrong I love the craftsmanship that goes into the repair, but it just seems it would be quicker
I was watching this thinking, I reckon Ryan can get metal more smoother than a body shop could using filler. Outstanding skill being shown here. Well done fella. 👍
@@danieltaylor6811 these wings are very few and far between, and extremely expensive. I've seen second hand rust free ones for £650 per one. Also it would take me half a day for both wings. why would i throw away a slightly rusty panel and buy new, it makes no sense
Just copy-paste it a CAD-user would say. Plus, if i am not mistaken, another E24 you have in the workshop could be used as a reference. Theoretically, because of course that could be an older or newer model and make this project way too easy. Hail Murphy!😣🤬

Hope you were sat down when you googled it
I thought buying those wings would be easier then restoring the old ones.. but really u make them cheaper? crazy fabrication u rustdevil 😁
Is that big fancy welding table more for drawing on paper than metal work 😜
I use it as a tripod too. Multi use table

Why not use sandblast or sodablast on those doors instead or wire brush or sander?
Availability and cost
