In our dualistic culture, we are strongly conditioned to make choices--most of them superficial in some way--exercise and apply our will while taking personal responsibility. It is not so much that issue, but our belief that it is anything but phenomena we observe. That pressure reinforces the social fiction of the ego and its "free" will. We might even fear giving up and letting go when the intellect and its fertile imagination get hold of the idea. And yet, it is the very key to our true freedom as opposed to the fictional freedom that is merely a series of reactions between an abstraction of causes and conditions and the supposed, separate entity we imagine ourselves to be and take credit for by way of post-rationalizing it. Whatever happens in the phenomenal sense, we trade or delay the utter relief of liberation for fear, worry, frustration, disappointment, unfulfilled expectations, etc. When the price of that is clearly understood and the implications are known, that is when we are able to finally enter the gateless gate and live a life that is lived, free of the burden of mistaken identity and the conditioning that we tend to strongly believe in. Of course, the ego would and should balk at that since it thrives on choice, free will and being an established entity that MUST survive at all costs. That ego only knows its conditioning and takes it to be factual. The experience, (rather than the conceptual explanations) of reality as it is is essential, though. That is the experience of no experience.
I'll have to listen to this one tomorrow, but I wanted to say that when I first saw the thumbnail, I though it said, "The Unfindable is All That." And I was thinking, "Right on, Jayasara!"
This is amazing! Would love to get hold of the whole series of books he wrote! Thank you so much for your sharing the words and teachings of these Masters! ❤
For one moment it was clear, there is nobody, we don't see each other, only objects in "each other's eyes", and I put that between quotes, but then that clarity was seemingly hidden. It felt so natural that we are all that one "That" but this clarity slipped away.
I keep misreading the - lovely - thumbnail: The UNDEFINABLE is all that we are... 😳 It's ok with me if the shopping list for my Korean Temple Food is made without intention🫢. Cheerio, I'm giving up trying to find myself ❣️
It's either the album Reflection by Brian Eno or it's from his generative app by the same name that plays the same basic music but it is forever changing and slightly different.
Yes, it's some Eno generative samples and other sounds played around with but hard to pinpoint specific tracks as the data is all over the place - sorry.
Fuck me...this was like some kind of spiritual slap in the face.... high test Dharma dashing all and any illusions upon the unforgiving rocks of Truth.
These teachings make me feel the absurdo of our life some how. Nothing is reel, no beaty, no love, no goal, no sens, no art, nothing... I know is m'y mind saying that, but it is too Hard, why are we here? Yes, we do nit exist, why does the Absolute take all our shapes, minds and all formes of aparent existence? I will stay meantime with Ama, Ramana, Nisargadata and Mooji. This teaching instado of suporte m'y way, put me down. Sorry to be so sincere. ❤ Thanks
Well, that duality of fictions like love, goals, senses, etc., comes at a heavy price: worry, frustration, suffering, etc. You are welcome to keep them, but you presuppose that what is being talked about here is not at all open and liberating into something beyond current experience and intellectual ruminations. Appearances arise endlessly no matter what and you just stop clinging to each arising. Simple. It is your view that matters.
Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta are saying just the same as Wei Wu Wei - these are the Masters he studied with in India. They are not in opposition to the naked Truth here. If you wish to dive to the depths of their teachings you will find the same Absolute Truth. This Truth will set you free from the delusion of this "you" and joy is the only result. 😎🌞
My take is that what we call free will is purely an illusion. However, that is an affront to the conditioning of that social fiction we call the ego. Maybe you had a reaction as you listened to it? The choices we make are merely an interplay of a subjective sense of self and causes and conditions, all of which are just happening. Take away the sense of volition and choice and you can be liberated just by knowing that. Of course, phenomenal life continues just at it is without any agency.
where do the thoughts come from or feelings or body motions if you observe your thoughts process for ten minutes youll find pure nonsense and no ratoinal order one thought has no realation to the next thought then suddenly amelody is stuck in that process for ten minutes and the moods change according to strange patterns of outer circumstences and yet something is aware of all that mechanical process that goes on forever 😂

When is volition or choice, or intent ever necessary?
You are not that which is observed because that which is observing cannot be observed
