      We spend the first half of our lives growing up and becoming smarter and stronger and more capable, and it's really hard for people in the second half of their lives to accept growing out of that role they spent the first half growing into. They worked hard their whole lives, now Mousey gets to carry the weight. Circle of life or something. :)

    • @Nitrostine
      @Nitrostine 3 года назад +20

      This hits hard for me in a different way . . . I spent all my life being told "I brought you into this world! YOU need to support ME!"
      My mother spent my highschool years isolating me from other people, trying to make me totally dependent on her while telling me *constantly* that the moment I turned 18 I would need to pay rent to continue living with her.
      "When you get a job you'll give me all of your wages and let me manage your money for you." She'd tell me. To continue living in my own room she wanted me to pay her more than half of what I would have earned, and pay for my own food after that.
      Despite all this she refused to help me find work. She was unemployed, living on government handouts, and yet wouldn't spare the time to drive me to interviews or even help me write a resume. If I had found work, I would have had no way of commuting there. She expected the impossible and when when she realised that mistake, she kicked myself and my twin brother out of our home at 17.
      My father, who she separated from years before, was better. After she kicked us out, we stayed with him. Finding work was difficult so we helped out in his computer shop, all of us barely scraping by. Sleeping in a tin shed, eating nothing but the cheapest food we could buy, for years. When we fell on even harder times my brother joined the Navy just so we could pay rent, and gave me the leg-up I needed to find a job of my own. Our father gave up on his computer business and for years relied on our income to live.
      Now, years later, we're all employed. my brother and I have moved out and started our own lives, but our mother isn't present in them, and our father still relies on us to pay his rent.
      I grew up always being told that it was my job to support my parents. Never the reverse. And to this day, that's all I've ever done. It's what I've had to do. I never had a family that gave me the help I needed, never had a life where slaving away for those who raised me was not an obligation. I've been emotionally and physically abused, as has my brother. I to this day have chronic injuries that resulted from my parents' neglect.
      So when I hear stories of people like Mouse, like her family. People who support each other. Parents who are willing to sacrifice themselves for their children . . . it breaks my heart.
      I'm glad that in spite of all her struggles, her family loves and supports her in a way mine never did. She deserves her parents, and they deserve her. I wish all families could be this sweet.

      I completely understand. I was a drunk and deadbeat when I was young. I was this close to becoming homeless, the woman I can call my wife came into my life about 5 years ago. She has accomplished so much, she got to see the world, got her Bachelors and she is currently a supervisor for a gas company in Los Angeles. The most amazing part is that she is in a wheelchair. She was born with very limited movement and strength in her arms and leg yet that never stopped her. Here I was, being able to go up stairs, use the restroom, change clothes and shower. I took it for granted. So she saved me from all of that and I decided to marry her and join the Navy. The BAS housing helps us both along with her job working at said gas company. I learned that sometimes family and love does not come from those who birthed you but, who helped you.

    As a Latina I know how big this is for her and her mom and family. In general it’s big but culturally it’s just something different. Lots of us have seen our grandparents/parents slave away to provide for us, to set us up for a better life than they had growing up. Buying them a house is usually a sign that we made it and that they can take a break. Mousy is honestly so inspiring for a lot of reasons, glad to have her as representation!

    Huge respect for Mousey.
    We all know she's sick and therefore bedwriten alot of the time, yet that didn't keep her down. She found people that loves her through the fun and rough times and could use us in the chat to distract herself from the pain. Through her efforts she got noticed alongside Zen, Melly, Nyanners, Hime, Vei and Froot to join Vshojo, and even now is still trying to entertain her twitch/youtube family (either alone or collab with friends and collabs with her Vshojo family) whenever her health allows it. Through her efforts is able to support her real family. So proud of what she has accomplished even though it has been hard on her, I really respect and love her for who she is.

    You have achieved what so many people dream that they could do for their parents. It's sad that owning a home 100% for oneself is such a near impossible thing these days. Congratulations to you for doing that for your mom, and congratulations to your mom for raising a daughter that ended up to be you, who is kind and treats others so well. You have wonderful parents, and you are wonderful.

    Given Mousey's health condition and the restrictions it has on her lifestyle, there's only so much she can spend to make her own life better. So why not use the rest to benefit her family? I'd probably do the same if I were her.

    Look almost everyone deserves a place to live though I will admit that sometimes you have to neglect one thing and prioritize another due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. The way I see it, you helped your parents for helping you with all the medical problems you had over all the years.
