Wow, So happy to see so many outstanding painters. What a great variety of well determined sensibilities and alternative practices; starting with Jenny Brosinski and ending with Tala Madani. Oehlen' s and West's (yes I smile every time as well) and reverent Frankenthaler just on another level, every time I see em!!! Great video. I find many of your intuitive observations keen and spot on. I Thank You
I greatly appreciate you allowing us to follow along as you gallery hop. As a collector of 3 years , I learn so much. It’s great to see and learn about the artist. I love Jenny’s work and will take a closer look. I have always loved Helen F. Your comparison of earlier versions of Helen’s work to later is spot on. I have been wanting to add an artist of historical significance to my collection. I’m hoping to add a lithograph or woodcut of her work. She really embraced print making during her career and there are plenty to choose from. Thanks for sharing .
Great selection of shows and thank you for the excellent camera work especially the close ups which show the surfaces of the works and how they're made. Very enjoyable.
Your filmmaking is better than your understanding of painting. At least YOU want to say something. Both of them you named have mistreated their possibilities unless they never had any.
@@olafsager6056 Well, I see Kippenberger wannabes everywhere in contemporary art. I didn't say they were good or bad. Anyway who cares? But their presence in YT is very residual and to see them both in the same clip is a singularity.
Ah, all is right with the wacky doodle world this enjoyable spring morning listening to the dulcet inspired calming tones of MLB taking us along for another eye opening gallery tour. Thank you as always for your gift to us all and the world. Slainte' Math.
greatly indebted, Mary. Ty! ..Oehlen resides among my pantheon of heroes, as does Helen F & while Jenny B is new to me, she def holds a vibe & emerges, imho, as a contemporary reinterpretation of the latter & a kindred spirt of the former
Greetings from Derby City, Kentucky! Love your videos! Coming to NYC next month (May) to do an Art Galleries and Museums tour! Can you suggest any good hotels, places to eat, etc? Thank you!
"Then my father said if you wanted to be an artist, I'd have to find my own style." Everything seems the same to me🤔 I wonder how do you feel after seeing these works of art, internally fulfilled, calmed, full of inspiration and joy, in love or sad and hurt? I can hardly tolerate such chaotic artistic expression full of aggression and empty of content, I wouldn't stay five minutes in a gallery. I can't imagine how an artist feels after painting such a work. The state of mind of an artist who paints in this way can only be miserable, without inner beauty, without love, without empathy, these are the key qualities for raising the perception that serves as an inspiration to art. You don't have to find your own style to be a great artist, you have to find love to your self, your unique style will come by by exploring the self.
The eerily quiet tracking shots walking to the galleries are oddly reminiscent of Hitchcock's dream-like scenes in 'Vertigo' - in particular where PI James Stewart follows Kim Novak as she visits the museum in San Francisco to view the portrait of Carlotta Valdes.
You showed quite impressive and wonderful works, but you know, what impressed me the most were the real oil company posters displayed by Minerva Cuevas. I cannot define the feeling that passes through me in the face of such advertising campaigns. Reality delivers the most poignant punch. Thank you, Mary Lynn!
Never thought I would hear that classic science-fiction film, the Omega Man, in one of these videos I saw it years ago and there is a another picture that seems to be a perfect companion to that film call Soylent Green. The same actor was in both films. Very enjoyable video with a nice variety of colors and themes. 😊
UES coffee shop: Via Quadrone, East 73rd kitty corner from Levy Gorvy between Madison + 5th. Great coffee, superb hot chocolate, yummy goodies and tutti Italian cuisine if you're around for dinner. And not for nothing, cutie, it's Very Art World!
Is it just me or smth is wrong with those paintings? I mean modern art is an ingenious concept but not all modern paintings are good. And those paintings definitely need to be questioned. To quote Bojack Horseman 'it has nothing to say and it said that nothing badly' (cant believe i just quote bojack)
The Helen Frankenthaler exhibit was a treat, seeing work of hers that I never saw before.
Jenny’s paintings only do one thing for me, remind me of how great Joe Bradley is..
Excellent tour.
Thanks Mary
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏼
Thank you, wonderful calming vibe to your videos
So dope!! Thank you for sharing!
Frankenthaler... Magnificent paintings. You might say they are old, but I want to watch them forever.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Oehlen's work here is fascinating---and I wonder to what degree inspired by de Kooning's Woman paintings, in palette and in gesture rather similar
I'm an artist in a small Colorado resort town. I'm so glad to be exposed to New York galleries and art.

I believe possibly these were acrylics on canvas?
Wow i notice that you also collect art..nice..❤❤❤
I do!
I don’t know how some of these individuals get away with it 😂

👍
Eventually, they all seem to run together into a giant scribbled chaotic blob.
When you say you're a collector, you are saying you have purchased and own paintings by these artists you are showing?
Please focus more closely on the paintings
