    Conheci Romero bem no início dos anos '80 meio por acaso. Havia um bar no bairro do Grajaú, zona norte do Rio, chamado Duka's Bar. Foi o primeiro daquela região a ter música ao vivo e de vez em quando aparecia um músico conhecido. Um dia apareceu um rapaz de cabelos ruivos, usando óculos e de violão na mão. Quando deram uma chance o sujeito tocou e destroçou a viola. Eu era percussionista e tratei de acompanhar. A turma gostou e como eu também usava óculos ouvi um cara falar: "Quem são esses aí com cara de economistas?". Naquele momento não poderia imaginar que eu estava com aquele seria considerado um dos maiores do mundo no seu instrumento. São histórias como essa que dão o prazer de viver.

      E deu mesmo, Romero! E pensar que tanta água rolou depois disso. Foi uma pena não termos estendido nosso relacionamento mas tínhamos objetivos (e talentos...) diferentes. Me dediquei ao ramo do Direito e me aposentei como Procurador Federal mas tenho saudades daquelas noites pelos bares da vida. Triste foi ver amigos músicos que frequentaram o Duka's Bar nos deixar como o batera João Palma, o Maurílio do trumpete, e tantos outros mais ou menos conhecidos. Hoje praticamente não toco mais pois a idade chega cedo para o percussionista mas as lembranças não nos abandonam. Sempre que possível revejo seus vídeos e tenho muito orgulho e honra de um dia ter formado um improvável duo com você.     Thank you for your bossa nova instruction, Romero. Would you please post a video of you playing Waters of March by Tom Jobim? I just started learning how to play the electric bass and I've always wanted to learn how to play this song on the bass while singing it. But, my husband, a guitar player isn't willing to learn this song on his guitar. I think it would help if I had someone to play along with. I think this is the best song ever written!

    Excelente aula, grande Lubambo. Mas, na legenda, escreveram pandeiro em vez de tamborim (que é o que você diz com total razão), aos 3:22. Seria bom tentar corrigir a legenda, porque de fato é possível mimetizar o pandeiro do samba, em uma batida de violão, claro, mas definitivamente não é o que ocorre quando tocamos a batida tradicional da BN.

      jpnarino I think the chord progression is the following: Eb-7b5 to D-6(+10) to Db-7(+10) to Cdim to B-7(+10) to B-6(+9) [or Edom7(without root)] to B-6(+b9) to Amaj7(+9). In other words, it's a II V I in Db- (using the tritone sub of V) to Cdim, followed by a II V I in A.

      I prefer writing chords in terms of their shape, i.e. the fingers' positions, like tabs. I find it more precise (less ambiguous). In this case, that whole "Eb-7b5 to D-6(+10) to Db-7(+10) to Cdim to B-7(+10) to B-6(+9) [or Edom7(without root)] to B-6(+b9) to Amaj7(+9)" deal becomes:
