OMG Mary, I love that you honored your inner child and bought the mermaids! More adults should give themselves permission to enjoy toys! I love miniatures and have to stop and admire Polly Pocket every time I’m in Target 😃

my mom used to buy me the bags of naked barbies from the thrift store and crochet them cute outfits. It wasnt new but it was a huge upgrade from the cornhusk dolls she used to make as a kid so I was grateful. ♡

My husband has asked me several times what in the world is I am listening to and “why does that lady speaks so softly?”. I explained to him that I am listening to Mary a.k.a. the “human Xanax” and that she is wonderful and helps me with my anxiety and helps me relax. He said that’s all he needed to know and sends you his thanks and regards. Ha!! 💖
My mother still crotchets Barbie clothes in her free time and people love them

Omg! My Abuela (who passed long ago) sewed me so many handmade Barbie clothes when I was a little girl too! I still have them all! Oh this just tugged at all my heart strings, thank you! ☺️💕

When I saw the sock dress, 😍 that your mother made for your barbie. It truly brought onto me nastalgic memories of the times...when my sisters and I were kiddies, because we use to make doll clothes out of socks too. I enjoyed using my imagination to create things that my parents weren't able to get us. It made playtime so much more fun. That was very impressive that your dad built you a "barbie dream house." I always wanted a authentic doll house made with genuine wood and not plastic. Thanks for sharing this video, Ms. Mary! 😊 👍 ❤ ❤ ❤

Such wonderful Barbie memories! The mermaid ones are called "Mermaid Fantasy" Kayla and Barbie. The pink mermaid was the best present I ever got Christmas 2002 and I played with her constantly. My granny made me Barbie clothes aswell and even a nightgown for my little Kelly doll (Barbie's baby sister), it was the most amazing thing.
Really cool that you have your precious childhood toys. I don't have much left to pass down to my kids from when I was growing up. Most of my baby things were destroyed from a flooded basement. Then most of my toys were sold in auction when my mom lost our storage unit. I was so sad that we lost our belongings. I have one porcelain bear I gave to my infant daughter from when I was a baby. It sits atop her dresser. This is a really cool video! 🖤 love A Christmas Story! You could actually take a tour of the house

I had those mermaid barbies! I was a kid in the early 00s. A friend named Paul bought me a mermaid barbie for my 8th birthday! I probably still have her 💞
What nostalgia! i had that mermaid barbie, but with a pink tail and blonde hair. When you squeezed the tail and it bent lol brought back so many bathtub memories. Omg and i had that Rapunzel doll, whos hair you could "grow" lol.

I would use vhs tapes as barbie beds and would roll one washcloth up as a long pillow and lay another one down for the sheet/blanket.
The mermaid barbies! 😩 I had all 3! There was another one in the “collection” she had a purple tail. They were my favorite played with them every night in the tub lol ❤️
That mermaid was my childhood. I straight up fought for it even tho I was a boy there was no one on earth keeping me from it! I loved how the rubber fins felt and I was obsessed with mermaids.
Also I remember ripping off the rubber part and they look like a robot underneath and I loved that as a kid even tho I ruined her

This video brought back so many wonderful memories for me. Thank you Mary! My mom sewed a lot of Barbie clothes for me and my sister’s dolls. Unfortunately I no longer have them. But I do remember my favorite was a very “glam” gold gown with metallic thread running through it.
I guess in the 70’s people actually had fancy places to go ! Lol
The homemade clothes I got for my Barbies were always my favorites. I really enjoyed this... the clothes are so unique and fun! So much talent and patience went into those clothes.
I was around 13-15 when I stopped playing with dolls. I had Barnies and Monster High dolls, and STILL played with them.
I wish I kept all mine, but they're all gone unfortunately. I'd of still loved them now, not to play with but to just have and replay some memories.
No matter how old you are, play with your toys for however long you want. Don't let people, family, friends, classmates tell you different.
This is so fun and relaxing to watch! Thank you! I was obsessed with Barbies from the age of 2. My grandma used to sew me barbie clothes and baby doll clothes. Good memories. I can’t sew but I’ve really enjoyed getting my 2.5 year old niece interested in Barbies.

Plot twist: GI Joe stole all the Barbie shoes to pursue his dream of becoming a drag queen. He left his boots so the barbies wouldn’t be left completely barefoot

I just love your videos Mary, we're from the same generation (I'm 42) and it's such fun when you make video's like this...I can totally relate. I live at the other side of the world (Belgium) and still I also had barbie dolls, loved the A-team (I now watch it again with my boys) and my mother also made clothes for my barbies (my father even made a bunk bed once, and my mother made the sheets)… Ah, and I love your kind of humor! I like different ASMRtists, but you are so down-to-earth and entertaining...

I wanted that Barbie Afghan so badly. Got it for Christmas, opened the box and there was its bed, brush, cardboard ribbons - but no dog :( Had to wait days for the shops to reopen to go and exchange it.
When i was a kid there werent mermaid barbies like those. I think it was around the time the OG little mermaid disney movie released that Barbie had a mermaid doll, that was a regular barbie with a skirt/tail. It was a beautiful iridescent fabric in teal. Her hair had some strands that would change color with water or heat or something.

Also love my huge collection of of NIB sets of Barbies with Ken , Skipper and Midge that I collected mostly from the years 2001 through 2005. Even have Little Debbie dolls and the older Avon NIB Barbies...

This is a really werid question, but how do you have such a good memory?! I’m only 26 but I only remember very significant events (like some Christmas days and birthdays) as a child but that’s it, it’s really upsetting that I’m losing my memory so young

Watching this made me wonder what I missed out on as a kid :/ my mom was SUPER strict about not letting me have dolls and especially Barbies because they promote unrealistic body images and more just being a pretty girl and not doing anything with your life sooooooo
I highly recommend you get yourself some dolls and just genuinely play. Dolls were such a massive part of my childhood and it makes me so sad to hear that some people missed out on that.
