I remember crawdad hunting as a kid when we would visit family there. Grandaddy knew every crick and daddy taught me to hunt ginseng. They had left their hearts in Kentucky, and both went back when they retired. I certainly have some fond memories of Harlan. Thanks for sharing!

Like Her , i have many good childhood memories growing up . Seems in many ways times here when i was a kid was a lot like in yall part of the country , back then , times were tough for many here in East Texas back in the 50's & 60's , it was in 74 my grand parents on Momma's side ever lived in a house with a indoor toilet.My how times have changed !! Good video. I lived in Harlan County the first 33 years of my life. It will always be my home. I remember going to the Poke Sallet Festival at Stone Mountain one time before it was moved to Harlan.
Awesome video loved the story pretty country looks like here in NC where I grew up fishing hunting squirrels catching crawdads in the creek thanks brings back memories👍
My mom was from Harlan she just passed away I'm sure she knows of this place😢. I miss her so much we my family are going to take her ashes to her grandmother's Burial spot to spread her ashes.

I'm just one of them old Harlan County boys at stayed at Martinsburg Lake all summer run the roads a lot hung around up iron fish by the shelter myself
