Finally, I have a London singer that makes the pain of losing Lynden David Hall a little bit easier to take! - and they are big shoes to fill!
To anyone looking for a genuine soul singer go and listen to Laville - I promise you he will blow you away!

It seems if you are into soul singers you have to learn how to deal with loss.
I will always have the memories of all the Jazz Cafe gigs I went to and the fact that despite his shy unassuming appearance he always found time to say hello at the end of his gigs.
If we can get through this terrible pandemic hopefully I still have Evelyn Champagne King & Will Downing to see at the Jazz Cafe this year, having already seen my gigs for Anita Baker and Lauryn Hill wiped out!

@@IncognitoChild Hey Ian, I grew up listening to music with actual musicians on the recordings, so a lot of the modern stuff with producers and sound engineers twiddling dials and pressing buttons instead isn't really for me. I take comfort though in the fact that there are still thousands and thousands of rarities out there from the 50s right up to the 90s that I am still discovering. If you're a vinyl junkie like me, then Soul Jazz records in Soho is still a great vault to explore and online I get a lot of stuff sent to me from the states by Dustygroove.com. I feel your pain about Anita, I was devastated about Love Supreme being cancelled for this year!! Her appearance there was billed as be her last ever UK performance and now the opportunity on these shores, to see one of the all time greats in the flesh again, may sadly have been lost.
absolutely agree. Blackheath had me hooked and now I see his live London gigs whenever I can. I was a huge Lynden fan, it was heartbreaking. Laville is world class, a class of his own.
