I remember going to see Moto X races as a kid, the thing I loved the most was hearing all those 2Smokes revving at the start line and it sounded like a real pissed off giant hornets nest.
What was so impressive is the depth of talent. Usually, when a top 3 or 4 rider crashes & has to fight back through the pack from 15th -20th, it's not a difficult task. In this case, EVERY pass was hard fought.
The best 2 stroke motocross race that I ever saw: 1971 Puyallup Trans-Ama open class saw Joel Robert and a young Roger DeCoster dualing within inches of each other for two 45 minute motos. Like displaced trials riders, Roger mirrored Joel over an impossibly rough sand track while rarely sitting. I've never seen anything else like it in over 50 years.
I just bought a new 2023 Husky TE250i Heritage with an FMF silencer yesterday! Last time I rode was when I was 15 on a CR85 and I'm now 32 😅 I love it, the sound and smell when I turned her on brought back so many good memories, I had a smile the whole ride home. Plus it's fuel and oil injected so I don't have to do anything, everyone was trying to talk me into getting the 4stroke but my heart and inner child is all for the 2smoker
Thanks Max! 😁 YZ tourque looked like it was working, but some of the other bikes over reved away. It was so tight. Very aggresive defense first couple laps if that makes sense. Got an adrenaline rush on the couch!
.. Such an epic track at Foxhill,.. I'm knackered just watching the race !... I'd love to have a go 'round it on my CR500,.. ( when no one is looking ! ).
Fantastic video Max, 2strokes sound better, look better, easier to maintain , but a good second hand one getting very expensive, I suppose their classics now, damn those bloody 4strokes.
Man!! That was a nail bitter!! It almost felt like I was right there in the saddle! Great video, Max! If you don't absolutely love 2 strokes after watching this, then you must be heavily into crocheting, lol. No offense. 😂
Wow, Foxhill has changed a lot since I was last there in the 90s 😆... I was actually considering buying another motocross bike with me turning 60 this year, for training purposes, keeping fit. Watching this video has made me realise that I must be mad to even be thinking of doing such a thing … 😂 Every joint in my body is aching from just watching this video… 😂 Thanks for uploading vid and saving me from serious injury .. Great vid 👍
That was properly intense. Loved it. I got back into riding a year ago, bought a husky 350 as I couldn't justify spending the same money in a 90's bike as a much newer 4 stroke. I'm totally glad I bought the husky, mega bike and I love it but that call back to 2stroke realm has been too much to bare so I've just picked up a used TM 125 for a bit of zingy fun this year (merry Christmas to me 😂) never had a 125, my younger self went from a kx80 to a bunch of 250's a 490 and a 500, miss those days horrifically but life got in the way. Deffo looking forward to some fun on this TM.
@@999lazer watch all your stuff, best MX info channel on RUclips.... It's like old school top gear for 2stroke amazingness, your presenting skills have grown loads over the years I've watched, pro level stuff now and the 2stroke builds are amazing. Hope to see you guys at Ashdown testing with Nev at some point. Keep up the good work 👍
I rode when 2-strokes ruled. 500cc class was like super-heavy weight boxers as an analogy (not me, but great to watch!). 250cc class was pretty serious, too, those 70's machines could be pretty dangerous. 4-stroke off-road? Color me biased.
Yeah, this looks like a really good race... but, not as epic as the 1999 AMA Pro Outdoor 125 National at GLEN HELEN. It was an awesome battle between Ricky Carmichael and Tallon Vohland... they were going light speed and smoked everyone (and that season in particular). Look it up. PS: I do agree with you that 2-strokes make for a much more exciting MX race.
@@999lazer Well you posted a really good video, thanks. Those boys were definitely battling. Also, a very good quality video, which gives the couch potatoes at home a hint of what it's like to race MX.
That dude was on a mission! So was Jimmy Decotis on a 125 at Deschambault(moto 2) on July 30, 2023. Throttle Media Productions. One of the most intense rides I’ve ever seen! 🤙
Hey, what is this Max, the 250 Novice class??? Haha, BOLLOCKS, Mate. I'm just fkkking with ya Clearly this is a pack of Nationl Pros on 250cc 2 strokes. How can you tell. 1. NOBODY just rolled over, every pass was well earned. 2. The guy, Tom, who was running in 3 and clearly beloved at the sharp end was only a tad bit better than those in mid pack. 3. ALL the bikes are bloody FAST, none had anything extra over the others. 4. Tom only made passes because of what seemed like slightly better fitness, a little bit sooner roll-on of the throttle, a little later in the brakes and smart riding, knowing when the next victim was gonna run him o out of room...in the most dangerous of places. 5. NO ONE SLACKED off or gave up, of you got passed it's cos the other guy wanted it now enough to take a few chances more. I love two strokes, ain't real moto without them. Braaaap. Tom Grimshaw, AWESOME riding.🎉❤💪🏻👍🏽

he was working hard for sure. Thanks for watching:)
Even more awesome than the race was the crisp and clear helmet camera footage. Absolutely awesome to ride along in this race.

I'm going to have to see if i can find some footage from that race! Thanks for taking the time to comment Patrick!

Amen to that! Thanks for watching brother :-D
Ahhh yes... r😊ce gas and castor oil... my peanut butter and jelly.
Brilliant upload.. i was there at foxhills.. unbelievable weekend.. how fast was Alessio Chiodi!!... world class 👌
That’s was a good race I was hooked !! I thought he was gonna get it on the last lap. 💨💨💨

If that YZ250 had a few more HP it could have won the race as the rider was more than capable..Great video thanks.
Thanks for watching Albert! Tom was absolutely on fire in this race for sure :-D
Or either he didn’t crash would’ve won

Dude yall need sale those camera tare offs I turn off a bunch off these after the cam gets roosted, yall should push that
You need to watch the video from motohead, 125 cc two stroke passes 43 riders in 4 laps, this one is not even close to the speed he was going.

Ok, so by the mid point of the video I was twisting my chair left and right and leaning with him in the corners, was I the only one?

2 Strokes for life my man!

amazing
lets see some old honda racers
2 stroke, or not 2 stroke, that is the question. i like both but I do not race so I am invalid!!
2 Stroke is always the answer! ;-D Thanks for watching dude
I agree, I used to have a IT 465, should have never sold it.....but at least I still got 2 1990 and 92 yz125's :)@@999lazer
2 smokers for ever 💯
Who's the squid, #43 on the Honda? To be doing whips like that right after the start is stupid.
