I’ve been doing blind dados for a number of years now. Didn’t know about the jointer trick though. That beats making a saw setup.

Since your Dado stack is already set up. can't you just use your miter gage and remove 2" of stock from your shelf? Since it is set at the ~1/8" for the dado grove, it will be the exact height.

I was going to ask the same question... But I think MNMetsFan nailed it when he said that you could move the saw fence and run the shelf upright over the dado stack and it would automatically be at the perfect depth.
An added sacrificial fence would make the set up perfect.
