@@sgt9247they aren’t sad about that it’s the fact that they changed such an iconic character, when I think of Ariel I think of the old Ariel, it’s bot about changing the race it’s the fact that it’s not as iconic now
Fr but one thing I do wish they added back then to be more diverse among everyone was like disability have a princess in a wheelchair or like down syndrom or sm Or Muslim princesses or at least a Muslim character (I'm not Muslim but idk if its ok to have them as princesses MB) Like yes they're being inclusive as far as skin color but I think it would be so cute to have a wheelchair princess those things make it more inclusive ❤️
Yeah but...they did tried. The issue nowadays is that they don't do their research anymore and go for the cheap and easy path on most movies. They made a lot of research for that movies (except maybe for the Aladdin movie they mixed a lot of cultures). They worked with natives for Brother Bear and did their best on representing their ethnic features. They did research on jazz music (because New Orleans) and the culture of the 20s for The princess and the frog, even the Mardi Gras is a very important plot-point, besides the inclusion of voodoo magic that is a closed practice for black people. Lilo & Stitch was made on Hawaii. The eliminated scenes it shows more criticism to tourists who see the hawaiian ethnic people as an attraction instead of human beings. They hired professional hula dancers for the dancing scenes such as the start of the movie, that's why the movements are accurate. So this post is completely wrong and the point is that they used to try harder representing other races. I would like to include The emperor's new groove in this list, because I am peruvian and I loved the movie since it's clearly based on inca culture (Kuzco -> Cusco, a peruvian city; Pacha is "earth" on quechua). The original script for the movie was very different to what we see in the end, but the research was so good, the features are correct, the representation of the houses on the hills, the use of gold, and llamas are very important. For being a comedy kids movie on a fantastical setting it was a good representation, specially for the time, peruvian kids love the movie and they even see themselves in the characters. If they made this kind of movies again they would make millions, but I guess is too much of an issue for them.
I miss old Disney so much they had all unique stories but now they’re just a main character hero who beats evil guy 😔 AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW BAD THE ANIMATION NOW 😖
Honestly, I prefer old Disney. Did you know they are getting rid of the dwarf roles to make more “inclusive” roles for the new Snow White? The dwarf community is mad.
now the diversity feels so forced which imo makes the movie feel so unlikable. especially when they change the race of disney princesses, like why don't you just make new characters with new stories? it'd be so much more likable and memorable
Seriously I wish we had old Disney back
