This guide will be an overview of the Highlander format for competitive TF2. This is meant for those interested in Highlander to get an idea of how to properly play the mode with the community set meta!

Translation: Sniper's melees are so universally bad that it doesn't really matter

i forgot i was subscribed but remebered instantly why i did upon looking at the channel. thank you for uploading this now, as i was just begging to try and get into highlander. i played a few tf2center lobbies but i am struggling to find a team, even though the season is not on, as far as i know.
Are you in RGL discord server? You can just go to #lft highlander and put your class and Div level or go to the #lfp section if someone is trying to find a player that is willing to join their team
You can still get into the team but you better do it quick cause the rosters lock in a few days

where can i play highlander matches?
Sorry for the late response. The fastest way to play a match of highlander is to use a community matchmaker website called TF2Center. Just Google the website and it should be the first result. As long as you read the rules, it'll be fine.
You can also try to play on "Highlander Pick up games" discord servers, which are small community ran matches.
For a more organized method, you can join a team and play Highlander through RGL.gg, a TF2 competitive league. This is your guaranteed bet to play as new players are always wanted. You will play on a team on both official competitive matches in the league, and friendly matches for practice organized by team captains.
Highlander is not an official TF2 game mode, it's entirely community created and maintained.

Isnt the southern hospitality like a straight upgrade?
In a mode where competitiveness is high and all numbers matter, 20% fire damage is significant, plus you're never really going to hit a spy for the bleed to matter.
Brief note about the medic, most med mains consider 6s med more difficult than HL med, and the current meta is the Solemn Vow, not ubersaw
No, no they don't.
Nah the solemn vow in hl is kinda bad, it requires the med to peek a sniper sight line to get info a spy could and medic is hard on both modes

@@xavier1964 bruh no, the upside is useless in hl because spy can see enemy health while invis and relay that info to his team, while the med has to risk everything to see the health of a enemy, the ubersaw is better due to it giving you 25% Uber on hit with a useless downside of slow swing speed

Don't play TF2 's in game competitive, not only is it dead, it's rife with cheaters. I suggest you look into 6s, such as with RGL.gg

Shouldnt highlander be the only comp mode? Its the only version of comp that makes sense in the context of TF2 as a whole. 6v6 or 5v5 feels like a neutered version of TF2.
6v6 is created to be the most fast paced and flowing version of playing TF2.
Two scouts, two soldiers, a demoman and a medic. All classes but medic have great mobility and damage, which makes it ultimately the more entertaining format to watch. Not saying highlander isn’t entertaining or fun to play.
The logistics of it would be hell for a matchmaker
