I can only imagine what the people who told this guy "if you don't like it, make your own game" are feeling now. You've piqued my interest in buying this.
Also, I would recommend Mutant Football League. It's something I tried out a while ago, and very much enjoy. I feel your community would appreciate it.
Mutant is really fun
Get out there and support Independent developers, especially the ones who try to make sports games because they tend to struggle without licenses.

Maybe you can answer this question. It looks like the camera makes it hard to see your receivers. Are you just throwing the ball hoping that your guy is open? This looks really good but I feel like I would get frustrated if I'm always throwing blind.
@@2buxaslice You can change the zoom and also QB skill rating determines how much you can see.
I think you should take a look at the Out of the Park baseball games. They are not football, and have no gameplay, but they have to have the deepest and most in-depth franchise modes ever made in a sports game. If the OOTP devs made a football game, i would instantly buy it.
Ummm...OOTP is great but is definitely not more in-depth than Football Manager.
@@No-Kung-Fu I don't know man...OOTP is pretty crazy. They seem very comparable. I've played both but it's been awhile. What does FM have that OOTP doesn't?
@@No-Kung-Fu They are both in depth in different ways. I feel like football manager is more rralistic than OOTP, but in OOTP you can play around with things more

I love OOTP, but it is definitely not for everyone. It has no gameplay and is completely focused on stats. It’s too niche to be a super popular game sadly

Try Action! PC Football by Dave Koch Sports. Buy the base game, then buy the season you want to play.
I wish someone would make a hockey game like the old genesis EA NHL games but with a full franchise mode. That would be sweet.
Have a look at NHL04 rebuilt. Lots of work gone into updating it. Even physics improvements.

Console ports are in the works (updates will probably slow down as they porting work progresses) Definitely the most fun I've had with a football game. There's a few things here and there that are still missing (laterals for ex.) but It's a one man show and it feeeeels sooo good to play. There's real drama on the field, but none of it is artificial. Franchise mode is deep enough to keep me satisfied and coming back season after season. Really hope it takes off on consoles since that's where most sports fans are, but as a PC gamer, I'm loving that I get to play this little masterpiece first.

@@TheCokeCrusader1 In the discord he says NFL season is the goal, but it's a soft target. It might be here at the end of the year.

It's worth mentioning the community's work on this as well. A lot of those fake advertisements were made by the awesome people of the Legend Bowl discord, and a lot of team names and logos are made by yours truly. Javo still deserves a bulk of the credit, but I also think it's just cool to have a game where the community latched on and pitched in even if it's in the small ways we can.
The NFL Mod for this game literally makes this a near perfect football game
Finally, he did it!!! I love this game and been waiting for you to review it. I've played 30 seasons in the franchise mode. This game is great. It deserves all the support. It should be on consoles by this year. If it does well enough Legend Bowl 2 will be a thing.

I might be weird for this but I think that the art style being what it is only makes the game look more enticing for me
Man this game looks great. I honestly love the art style. Brings back memories of playing Bill Walsh's college football on the Genesis. Of course that game never looked quite this crisp. I think going for 2d and just focusing on gameplay was a fantastic idea. I have to check this out
I remember watching the dev updates for the entire creation process. It was lit. I watched @KingJavo create the sprites, animations, and code it all by himself. Javo has been putting work in on youtube for over a decade

So, wait a minute - this game is totally, totally customisable, and with extra mods you can have college teams as well? All 128 FBS teams? With comparable schedules? And with all that customisation, you can even make your own leagues, the number of teams determined only by your own imagination?
If this is going to get a console release, I might get this to make a custom British league and use the customisation features to the max.

You've sold me on this game. I 100% intend to pick it up at some point now, especially with it having a solid franchise mode. I am definitely one of those people just totally done with Madden and EA's awful handling of the sport. I came from the era of great Madden and 2K football games and watched the series flow from amazing to awful back to good and then straight down hill for a while with very little progress toward improvement ever since the game went to Frostbite engine. I don't mind graphics if the game plays well and it legitimately looks like a great game to play. The 8-bit/pixel style is very appealing in my opinion and for being a game made by a single person, that's extremely impressive work from top to bottom.
The player sprites remind me of “Day of the Tentacle”… and I love ‘em! I’ve wanted something similar to the OG Madden games on the Sega Genesis for ages… hoping this gets a Switch release.

Pretty much went back to the SNES/Genesis days and made a new age classic. Love it.
It's honestly really fun and is very challenging in harder difficulties
The coach and rookie back and forth was dope in the cutscene at 2:41 it actually felt like a coach talking to a player and not a generic cutscene that’s unrealistic or socially awkward af

As a casual football fan, I think the level of complexity for franchise is perfect, unlike 2k5 which is a little more complex for my liking

I remember my soldiers playing techno bowl back in the day. I would walk into one of their rooms and I would hear FUMBLE lol.
Idk if you have done this already, but I was thinking it would be really cool if you did Tecmo Bowl retrospectives (NES, SNES). Those were some great arcade style games you would like. Or even better ones like "Super High Impact" for the SNES, that was like Blitz before Blitz was a thing.
The blistering speed and incomprehensibility with which you said "All-Pro Football 2k8" is impressive. I had to turn on captions, which misread it as "Ultra Football 2k8", and then did more googling until I figured out what you had said. Slow down there, kiddo.
Is it truly fully customizable? Can I rename the team nicknames? Can I create players from the ground up?

Haven't heard of this game until yesterday when I saw it released on Switch. Figuring that would be the inferior and less updated version, I bought it on Steam instead. Omfg, everything you said was spot on. This game is consuming my free time now.

Love this game, I've been having a blast with the USFL Mod. I started my Franchise Mode in 1986.
I am really hoping for this to be released on switch as I would love to play this handheld.

Legend Bowl reminds me of an updated 90's Madden up to Madden 98.

I have had this on my Wishlist for so long and now I want it so much more
The game has a few problems.
One is once you're able to score at will on Veteran you move up to SuperStar or Legend.
The problem with that is every time you kick off the AI damn near returns it for a touchdown every time.
Great game and all but it needs better balancing.
Turns out I could be wrong here and if you pick the play kick middle you have to kick middle or you will get wrecked. I think I was kicking in the wrong direction of the picked play causing me this issue.

The difficulty sounds awesome. You can put Madden on the hardest mode & clobber the AI with 4 off. plays & 2 def. plays. That's why I haven't bought a football game in over 12 years. Have 2 check this out when it comes to console.👍

I'm 41 and I'm from a day when 4 or 5 football titles came out every single year and madden was king then. The only years madden wasn't king was maybe in the late 90s. Theres a reason madden is the only title around today with or without the license exclusiveness from the nfl

would be dope if a big company picked this up and they built on it!
A “big company” would necessarily be focussed on maximising profits for minimal investment… because a big company’s first loyalty is to its shareholders… not its customers. They’d make the game worse, rather than better. Just think about why no big company has already produced a football game this good in over 20 years.
If a big company get this it will not be a complete game. It will be litered with micro transactions that will require you to login every day (have internet connection/always online game) that will make you addicted to it because you need to play every day for measly rewards.
A true "Fuck ME? FUCK YOU!" moment here.

What about someone who wants to experience football without knowing anything about what plays to choose or any of that? does a game exist for people like that?

It wasn't brought up so I am pretty sure I know the answer, but as someone knew to seeing this game be brought up, is there any customization in terms of playbooks? As simple as just pick different formations to make a playbook, or is there, or will there potentially be, anything close to create a formation and make plays based on predetermined routes and concepts, or even as far as create your own plays? That is a big thing that football games are missing nowadays, is that real free customization of plays and playbooks. Another thing for me, and this is just personal taste and doesn't matter, but just different uniform sets you can create so you can quickly change what you're wearing in game. I'm an Oregon ducks fan, so I enjoy having 100 uniform options for game day.
Yes there is a playbook customizer that you can download on the discord and people share their playbooks. looks like it will be only available for PC though, for now. There is home, away and alt jerseys currently. It's one guy so if the consoles sell well enough there will be an improved sequel.
I love how the passing mechanic actually makes QBs miss. Most annoying thing in Madden was how QBs never missed their throws unless they were 60 overalls.

I’ve been playing this game for a while now they keep it updated and it’s way better than maddens franchise the customization option are great and plus if your wanting a switch up in graphics and style then this game is great I’d give it a 8/10 only cus I wish there was a pro bowl or something that could get the best players involved
