It's always nice to take the time to talk with someone older from a past time. If you listen you sometimes learn a new thing you didn't know or learn about a world that once was so different then the one we live in now. She was sweet Steve. You made her day with the chat. Place reminded me of when my grandparents were alive. My grandfather painted all the cast and all the copper in the basement as well!
Nicely stated. Basements were utilized for canning, cold storage, workshop. That is definitely a grandma/grandpa house and reminds me of my grandparents' house. I ended up buying a nearly 100 year old house and have it all set-up like something out of the past. A lot of younger people think old houses are junk. Yet, the old ones were built with old growth douglas fir, sold planks, poured masonry bathroom floors, horse hair plaster compared to what they use today.... osb, mdf, particle board, vinyl, Chinese drywall, etc.
I'm glad you both have better luck than I do! I surely would have cracked that plastic trying to get the extra wrap on the drain pipe. And, my pipes would have been plugged right where the large pipe is about to rust through, and would have crumpled at the first snaking attempt!
Very nice job. I love that you reused the old trap, and didn't put new things unessecarilly and scamming the lady. And the fact that you care for what your customer has to say. . . you are my number one Steve! I am a 18 yo plumber apprentice, and you are my ideal. Keep up the good work :)
Love my old folks...they have the stories...One tips me with brownies or candies...I always listen... and make the bill reasonable for their status... makes the "job" nice....:-D
does your customers know that you do you tube videos. And I appreciate the videos that you publish on here to teach people how to repair stuff in their home.
Hey Steve. I’m a Plumber in the Chicagoland area. I’ve noticed that you usually use glue traps for Kitchen and Bath Lavs. Is that a personal preference or Code?

my opion i do it because the other compression ones leak over time .
What’s the best way to get a basement drain unclogged it has rust built up in it just bought this house 🏡
Actually, Semen has a slightly basic PH, which in turn cleanses the pipes.
Steve - how do you feel about professoinal-grade sulfuric acid? I've used it before on a slow drain that's under a concrete slab....
i will not use it i seen it ruen to many things remove chrome of basket strainers .remove porslen of a cast iron tub .stuff is nasty .i see no need for it .go in there and snake it out
I agree with you,we are right and the world is wrong
DEAR HOMEOWNERS....LEAVE STEVE A-L-O-N-E !!!
Let him work, DON'T TOUCH HIS TOOLS and stay out of his way......Thank You
She's a lonely old lady. Probably made her day to talk to someone and Steve didn't mind and obviously known her for years. Piss off
She reminds me of my grandmother she kept talking about life up to the day she died at 100 !
So was that tee after the p trap a sweep tee or just regular. Did they even make cast sweep tee's? 4 cans of draino on that 3 inch cast just about did it in.... Don't touch it
Hey steve, you should make shirts! Id buy em if they look decent labeled "Next Level" or "Give her the Old Gundy" (or gundie). Haha.
And one with Baby on it saying, "The baby dog is workin' again y'all!!"

Beans stop you up and sink takes it full load.
