I'd say the applicant dodged a bullet. That company would have been a venomous pit for that applicant.

Agreed. Nobody should be treated like that. Do you have any horror stories of your own with terrible rejection experiences?

@@catherinelijs One day, a well-known company emailed me for an interview, claiming, "You'd be a great fit." I was ecstatic, thinking this was the opportunity of a lifetime.
Dressed to impress, resume in hand, I entered their office with my heart racing but full of hope. The initial warm reception and growing anticipation made me even more optimistic.
However, the mood quickly changed when I met the interviewer, an older man with a grave expression. It was not at all the atmosphere I had anticipated. He inspected my resume right in front of me. Instead of highlighting my strengths or suggesting I had potential, he focused solely on what he saw as my deficiencies.
I kept hoping he'd eventually say something encouraging, like "That's exactly why we want you, to help you grow," or some other positive twist. But that moment never came. It just got worse. He bluntly told me the job was out of my league and that I needed far more experience before even considering such a position.
And then, abruptly, it was over. He stood up, didn't even offer a handshake, and left me sitting there, feeling smaller than when I had arrived. I receptionist, who was clearly ordered to remove me, walked me out like a criminal. I left the office with my mind spinning.
The whole experience felt unreal. It seemed less like a genuine attempt to find the right candidate and more like an excuse for him to vent his frustrations or belittle someone. It was bizarre and, frankly, a colossal waste of my time and energy. The entire episode is almost laughable for its strangeness. It's a clear example of how strange and sometimes disheartening professional interactions can be. But life moves on, and these odd experiences do make for interesting stories, right?

I would blacklist the recruiter and notify them in a canned email.

Who would ever want to work for a company like this? Just say sorry but no thank you.

Right! It makes no sense. Have you had any bad experiences like this in your previous roles?
