When the student is ready- the teacher will appear. - it doesn't matter said that first-you just play beautifully- and I learned quiet a lot, quite quickly. Thank you. Neil
Thanks for the great history lesson! I love Hawaiian music and thanks for the info on taro tuning. I'm going to try it! And also you play very beautifully.
Harry San, it is a pleasure and blessing to be able to find you and your site. I used to live in Hawaii. I would like to learn how to play Slack Key style so bad. I will follow your sites. Mahalo.
....How wonderful to hear you and see you on on RUclips Harry....Love all your music..always have....I enjoy the talk story behind the Hawaiian music 2...I play your Christmas CD all year round...This inspires me to pick up and play my guitar....Love and aloha to you and family always..ALOHA...
AWESOME! Thanks, Harry, for the great little history lesson. I never knew about Hawaiian Slack Key until just now when I stumbled across this video. That piece you play at the end is simply beautiful. I'm gonna have to go grab my guitar and see what I can do about learning some of this.
After watching the movie Desendants and hearing the guitar work I had to learn to play Slack Key. . Your video gave me the inspiration and instruction to start my journey. Very well done, Thank you.
Beautiful, man! Just beautiful. I could listen to your playing all day and it still wouldn't be enough. I'm putting Blind Blake and Lonnie Johnson on the shelf for a bit and try to dig into what you're teaching. I have to know how to make some of this beautiful music. Thank you So Much!
Mahalo! Your lesson is so sweet. ❤ i always felt like the cadence of tarot patch or wahine tuning sounds like hoofbeats. The Paniolo are riding all day, clip clop clip clop... then at night for sunset the music echos the hoofbeats of the horses. 😢 I miss my old home in Kohala.
its really amazing the finesse of this hawaiian style ! and also the endless possibilities of open G tuning ! thanks for the video ! saludos from south america !!
Thank you for this video. I am now truly interested in slack key tuning. I will try the G Major tuning for blues. I am far from an accomplished guitar player as waited until retirement to learn to play. Love the guitar and learning to play. Love that last song you played. It is beautiful and warms the heart.
Aloha Harry, this is nice but I leave in Ventura, Ca. Non the less I will keep on watching your video's. I'm recovering from my three n two heart n stroke victim. But, music has been with me for all of my sixty-three years on earth. I surely enjoy your slack-key playing, mahalo for sharing the tuning too. A hui hou, Kauhi
Marsha, I just followed you hear from my RUclips. What a lovely find! Harry is just as pleasant in person as he is in video. He's playing a jumbo built by Rollo Scheurenbrand, you can find Rollo's site by searching. Some of the most beautiful handmade instruments in the world. Fran
Nice, i already start my own slack key guitar group. In addition , I remove he 6th string because the 6th strings tend to be buzzy or fuzzy when ever a chord is pick. Keith Richards also remove the 6 string. Another reason,, after I remove the 6 string, , there is ample space for me so, I can run my finger nails across the metal strip and create the 'Guiro" sound like what Stuart Fuch did to the ukulele. Please don't try this on an expensive guitar.
It’s called Radio Hula, written by the uncle of Ledward Ka’apana, Ledward is regarded today by Hawaiians as the best slack key musician ahem🙄best living slack player. Check out Ledward his all over the RUclips. Harry and his teacher Raymond Kane too is regarded as an expert in this discipline .
GREAT video.... I loved it! Question... are the strings nylon OR steel? Traditionally, are they nylon for slack guitar? I just bought a guitar that has steel strings on them....
Aye that was beautiful! Could you please play beside my bed every night so that I can go to sleep without an ounce of stress and a smile on my face? Mahalo for that brah!
Brah! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! When ever I hear a Steroid Junky use the word Brah I go into attack mode and drop the idiot without giving it a second thought. Sorry to make such a negative post but I just cannot abide the use of the word "Brah" as it is a pure abomination of the English language...
