Just move on, you didn't lose anything. She made her choice and it has nothing to do with her academics. She already let go of the relationship and just needed an excuse to exclude you from her life. You most likely are not at fault here. It is probably one of those "Grass is greener on the other side." I've been through this myself. 50/50 chance she'll regret her decision, but that isn't important. The important thing to understand is her rejection of you doesn't mean you are a bad person or unworthy of a relationship. Tell her you understand, wish her luck and move on. Do not accept someone like this back into your life. You will be unable to trust her in a future relationship. Do not beg her, do not cry infront of her, do not convince yourself that you did anything wrong. You'll be fine and so will she.
Look into attachment theory and you may start to understand. Regardless, move on, plenty of fish in the sea. If you are having troubles with letting go, then you might want to look into yourself. I recommend meditation, self awareness and keeping present in the moment. Meditation and being present in the moment is life changing. You do all that and she might even come back but more likely you won't care and will find someone closer to your energy level.
