  • Based in Dorset in the UK, Monkey World is the largest monkey and ape rescue centre on the planet. For nearly three decades, the team has saved countless primates - across 20 countries - from lives of cruelty, abuse, and neglect.
    This safe haven is now home to more than 200 monkeys and apes. The dedicated staff never stop in their quest to save animals from being mistreated by owners, ending up in laboratories or being exploited in the entertainment industry.

    15:20 Their room is so comfy and I love the respect these animals get from the humans. Well done. All of that stuff is very important to make life more full filled. Animals need it as much as humans do. We are all much alike, if we like it or not; I love it. Thank you.

    Why don't they just be honest about the marm baby's? She ate there heads! I don't understand why this place has SO MANY DAM QUESTIONS every morning!!!!? Being who they are and what they do, there should be 24 hr cams! And ones like back when this marm was pregnant, she shouldn't have been left alone!! Because of her mental and emotional, psychical abuse! I know they don't breed these, as they shouldn't, but leaving a expected mother to have them and better chances she would kill them is not a proper way to control there marm population. I feel that's what happened here! But I'm nobody!

    • @LindaC616
      @LindaC616 Год назад

      Actually, if you check out their webpage, they do allow breeding, but they try to control it to a small amount. It is why they are a zoo full of rescues, but they don't have Sanctuary status

    Chimp Cherri name obviously came from the song "Chim Chim Cher-ee" from Mary Poppins, the 1964 musical motion picture. It was originally sung by Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews.

    So why have her continue having babies if in the long run she doesn’t take care of them?

    • @AGdawn
      @AGdawn Год назад

      They have all their rescue monkeys and apes on contraceptives but cherry was on antibiotics for a few weeks and they think it caused her contraceptive to fail. The only monkeys and primates they let have babies are the endangered ones in the breeding programs like wooly monkeys and orangutans.

    • @CatEarsAndChaos_

      They are on birth control but some times it just happens.

    • @LindaC616
      @LindaC616 Год назад

      @CatEarsAndChaos_ actually, no. If you look at their webpage you will see that they used to claim it just happened by a miracle. Now they are admitting that they allow one or two birth per group per year. This place does not have Sanctuary status because it is breeding. It is essentially at this point A zoo full of rescues

      @@AGdawn if you look at the pages on the chimpanzees and the Apes, I believe I was also looking at woolly monkeys, you will see that somewhere they say that they selectively breed. What a shit show to not separate that chimp and her babies from the rest of the group - even if they would keep that protective chimp with her, but at least away from the rest.
    Horrible animal management.

      @@ronniebuchanan6575 Google: "When chimpanzee mothers are about to have a baby, they tend to travel away from their group for a while and lie low in a safe, secret place to give birth."
      This 'sanctuary' is awful. So many 'introductions' resulting in injuries, even death. They seem slap-happy with anesthetizing when just observation would have given much the same information. anesthetizing a chimp that's completely off-the-rails terrified and then giving her more, resulting in her having a heart attack on the operating table. Trying to mix species that can't tolerate each other. Not separating other new monkey mothers (wooly & gibbons) that have no safe place to get away from others and they're in pens that offer no safety net if the babies fall.
      Letting dominant chimps terrorize others (put a few of the dominant ones in one pen!).
      After watching several seasons I am now so angry I can't watch it anymore.

      Things like this are a tough call for the animal caregivers because removing one animal from the group can cause a lot of stress and trauma, both in the removed animal and also the rest of the group who don't understand why one of their members is suddenly absent. What people have to understand is that most captive animals including chimps are still largely driven by instinct; they don't fully understand that their human caregivers protect them from predation (or attack by rival chimp groups) so the sudden loss of a group member frightens them and puts them on high alert.
