  • Hi sweet friends and thanks for joining me! Today I’m sharing how I updated this gorgeous table using paint to create a modern faux wood finish. This is a take two on this table (more on this below) and even though the first look was beautiful, I love this look is even better. It’s much more sleek and modern! I can’t wait to hear which makeover YOU prefer!

    Makeover #2 is the winner. I don’t usually go for faux finish but the juxtaposition either the back is just stunning for this delicate piece.

    One of my favorite techniques! Learned this from Black sheep and also did a table with a black base and faux for the top. Yours looks stunning!

    Stunning transformation! I love it and wouldn't blame you for keeping it, I sure would, lol! Just went to Amazon and ordered the pet hair brush - now I need to find the perfect piece to do this technique on! :) ♥

    Love it! Definitely prefer makeover #2 so much more! I've been watching Black Sheep House for her faux finish as well and both of you have helped me so much! I'm about to do this on the back of my freshly painted white bookcases to get a linen look but can't find clear glaze! Believe it or not! Canada must be behind in the newest looks! However, I'm going to improvise with adding equal parts poly and water to my paint. Any suggestions would be very welcome!

    • @SalvagedInspirations
      @SalvagedInspirations  10 месяцев назад

      Oh, i believe it Kathy! I always had clear glaze on hand in my inventory UNTIL I couldn't find where to buy it in the GTA anymore. :| What I've been doing is improvising with my colored glazes (like I did in this video) OR adding Flotrol to paint to give me a longer open time to manipulate a 'glazed' finish. I'd love to hear how the poly + paint works for you!!

    • @kathywest7380
      @kathywest7380 10 месяцев назад

      It's worked on my little sample boards. I'm just hoping it works across the 30 inches or so on the actual bookcases! I'll only go in small sections and work as quickly as I can, I guess!
      I could only find Zinsers extender at Home Depot but thought it would make it more difficult to leave the brush strokes that I want for this finish. Am I right?

    #2 definitely....I don't have a spray gun...I assume I can apply the top coat with a brush. That's what I like about Shannan at Black Sheep, she brushes her projects

    Beautiful job!! What finish/gloss of Gator Hyde? Did you use? Love your work.

    • @SalvagedInspirations
      @SalvagedInspirations  10 месяцев назад

      Gator Hide only comes in one finish which I would describe as 'Satin'... not too shiny so it looks really good with this faux finish.

      Ciao da Toronto Sandra! 🤗Sì, è un topcoat poliacrilico protettivo. Ho incluso il collegamento nella casella "vedi altro" della descrizione sopra. È possibile fare clic sul collegamento per vederlo. È come Minwax o Varathane se ce l'hai in Italia. 🙂
