This is above and beyond what I had initially expected from this band.
What I find interesting about them is they have not settled on a style. They continue to explore the metal genre with their music, and in this case, will resort to singing in English to better connect with their audience. In an interview with KOBAMETAL, he mentioned that they might do a song in Spanish, if it was appropriate for the song.
I love this too. There's a huge variety of styles on display.

Oh, of course the girls are adorable, talented & strong, the band is always world class & the production is truly second to none... but the real reason I fell so far into the foxhole is simple: their songs make me happy. I was there that day, May 8th, when Rob Zombie met and endorsed Babymetal. Truly a turning point in their growing global success.

Im 62 year old Navy Veteran Oh man, I stumbled on them and was blown away. I was stationed in Japan and grew to understand the culture. Baby Metal fits most of the best things about them as a people. Very exciting, energetic, syncretized, cute little school girls. The band kicks a$$ as well. So much talent and soul is projected outward you can feel it....
And all gone by December 31, 2017. Never to be seen again, other that the old OG videos. So sad.

This song is beautiful in every way. I’m usually headbanging and going nuts, but when I hear this side of babymetal, you really get the essence of this truly revolutionary band. This song also hits hard because this is a song for our fanbase (the one), and this was Yui’s last song with them, so I cry every time I hear this. Babymetal has truly influenced me in a way no band has ever done, and I hope Yui can come back one day.

最初にメタルという先入観でギミチョコを聴いた時はユイモアの声が幼くて拒否感を抱いた。
でもこの曲ではスーちゃんのパワフルな美声に合う絶妙な天使の歌声に聴こえてどっぷりと嵌った。
それから知れば知る程ユイモアの存在が大きく見えベビメタはライブの方が楽しいというのも理解した。
自分的には完成度の高いCD音源の方を好む傾向にあるが、ベビメタはその逆を楽しませてくれる唯一の存在になっている。
そんな中この曲だけは映像無しでも感動出来る最高の楽曲だと思うし、自分の中では間違いなく10本指に入る名作ですね。
ベビメタに心から感謝したいDeath!

New BABYMETAL fan. I'm a 55 yr old musician and been rockin' since I was 15. How can any metalhead not love and accept these girls? They're killing it! Gotta look after our little Metal sisters in this big Metal world!
It was pretty cute to follow this band updates through their first tour in europe. Couse the girls didn't fake it out, in the interviews said that they were not metalheads when they were called to be part of Babymetal, and seeing how the metal comunity welcomed them was so shocking, and that did actually get them into metal.
For me that was just the point when I started to think that not everything is lost in the metal fanbase and that we have become less close minded.
True that! I just rounded up about 3 weekends researching their history etc, all the way back to Sakura Gakuin, spending every waking moment watching videos and reading up. Their story is amazing . For 3 LITTLE girls who didn't even know what metal was, they've stepped up and kicked it in the ass. Now Kobayashi, on the other hand, though he liked metal music, seemed to miss the point on several concepts of metal music and the fan base, but over the 7 years BM has been at this, he's adjusted the music and "the method" so BM seems to now (well, since 2014, in my mind) be on a proper path to become "legends" (no pun intended!). It gave me huge amounts of joy to see the heavy-hitters and Godfathers of the industry step up and accept BM. The video of Chad of RHCP and the birthday cake for Su was CLASSIEST MOVE I'VE EVER SEEN!!!
When I saw the Gimme Choc video official, I wasn't sure which venue that was; Budokan? Tokyo Dome (prob)? But when they pulled back the camera during the 2nd reprise and showed the entire venue I was absolutely freakin' FLOORED at the size of the crowd!! I knew then there was something to this. Choko got my interest, Karate "set the hook", and Onedari Daisakusen just reeled me in. I was hooked for good!! I started my research after that and now i can't get enough. i'm very eclectic when it comes to styles and have been playing guitar for 40 years now and this is the first group in a long time (since I discovered Rush) to get me this excited! Kami Band is THE SHIZNET! more metal styles blended than I can count and Onedari; if that ain't Limp Bizkit influence I don't know what is!

もちろん、２人となった状態で神バンドを加えてBABYMETALというのは、これまでと違ったものが繰り広げられるでしょうし、違った印象を抱くこともあるでしょう。
できることならば、由結ちゃんに復帰してほしかったものの、意思はあっても体がついてこなかったというやむを得ない事情故に、ファンもしかと現実を受け止めて新たなBABYMETALを応援していくしかありません。
そうはいっても、寂しいの寂しく、それは拭い去れませんが。
ただ、一旦、別々の道を進むことになったとも受け取れなくもありません。
未来へ続く道は枝葉のように別れ、逸れてそのままということもあれば、またある同じ地点で交わることも有り得ます。由結ちゃんが今後歩む道がどこへ向かい、どこに続いているのか、今はまだ誰にも分かりません。分かりませんが、二度と交わらないとも限りません。
バンドなんて解散されることもあれば、再結成もある。
人間の入れ代わりはままあることです。
そして、その入ってくる人も新顔のこともあれば、懐かしい顔のことも。
もし将来に由結ちゃんの体の状態も良く、情熱が再び燃え始めたら、また舞台にバンドの一員として上がって歌い、踊ってみたいという意思が芽生えたらならば、一体誰が反対するでしょうか。するはずがありません。
そんなことは起こらないかもしれない、ただ、もし由結ちゃんがそう思い立った時に帰ってくる居場所がないと、何も話が始まりません。
であるならば、我々ファンは、由結ちゃんがいた時のものを思い出として胸の内に秘めながら、今の、これからのBABYMETALを力の限り応援して屋台骨を支えてまいりましょう。
その結果、一日でも長く、一度でも多くこのバンドがステージに上がり続けてくれれば、またいつか神バンドと共に３人でライブをやる日がくるやもしれない、そう夢見られるわけですから。
もちろん、そんなことは、狐様のみぞ知るdeath！Only The Fox God Knows！ですが \m/

All of their performances are perfection. The only way to get that perfection is with lots of very hard work...rehearsing. I can't escape the feeling that all that hard work is forced upon them. Since when do children volunteer to give 110 percent?
+View This -- Yui is a natural perfectionist. Their choreographer Mikiko has said Su is literally incapable of *_not_* giving 110% once the music is on. Saying they're "forced" is, well, forcing it a bit. That's just how they've always been. Moa by comparison is kinda lazy, but she likes to 1-up Yui.
Nearly all Japanese students learn English to a certain point in their school career. Doesn't make singing in your second language any less difficult though.

It is very metal to have a song or two dedicated to the bond between fans and band, specially in the early 80's UK metal band scene. This is though a great edition to them, there is lots to be impressed by Baby Metal one of them for me is the slipping through metal styles. I'm ready to admit I love This Band :)

Su-Metal's voice is so awesome
No doubt. All of them actually are possessed with talented voices, yet Su-Metal's voice is approaching diva level. So strong, so ranging, so controlled. Couple that with her dance abilities that most diva's do not display, and she is truly a formidable force.
Suzuka is pretty unique: I doubt very few diva's have the stage presence (like for example the Su-Metal 'death stare'/metal queen even as a 14 year old !), the dancing ability and singing ability combined. Suzuka doesn't (yet ?) have the vocal range of some of the top diva's, though. We'll have to wait and see if she can still develop that.
Most likely she can develop. I'm 22 soon and my singing voice is much better and different than it was when I was 19. There's always room for development^^ that being said, Suzuka is an amazing singer and very versatile, it just blows my mind. She's so good!
SailorSaturn1994 I really hope she can develop her singing even further, that would be amazing. I still can't believe how she was already signing on a stage with more than 20 000 people in front of her at the age of 10. Supposedly she was hardly nervous. But it does explain a lot. :-)

What I like most about this song (besides melding two of my favorite genres together - Jpop and Metal), is the riff and overall chord structure coupled with Su's vocals overwhelmingly conveys a feeling of nostalgia in me. I'm 41 and loved all music since I was born, mostly metal and punk. But this song hits me to the bone! It's so hauntingly familiar that it literally makes me tear up every time!

The group's name "Babymetal" was never meant to reflect their young ages. It was intended to signify a rebirth of metal music through Babymetal's own created sub-genre, kawaii metal.

TheHutch Actually, it is, but not in the way I think you think it is. When written in Japanese, the words "Babymetal" and "Heavy Metal" are almost identical. The only difference being a slanted " on the first character being added to mean "Babymetal" where the absence of that slanted " on the first character means "Heavy metal". I think it would be a good thing for Su-Metal, Yuimetal and Moametal to learn more English when they give interviews to Western media and communicate with non-Japanese audience. But a Japanese language gives a unique and special feeling to BABYMETAL 's songs. Some people probably like to know what a particular song title means, the general idea of the song, what those girls are singing about. There's an RUclips expert called Duane Metal who can tell more about those details.
Surely, if a song in sung in French, Spanish, Italian or Japanese, it gives different emotions to listeners. You don't need to understand all the lyrics if the music sounds good in your ears. The voice is a musical instrument including those two little screaming and dancing angels around Su-Metal.
Personally, I am a native speaker in Finnish, and I studied English as the first foreign language at school since the age of 9. Over the years I have listened lot of English rock music including The Unholy Trinity of Heavy Metal (Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple & Black Sabbath). To me this Japanese kawaii metal is a new and refreshing genre in a long musical tradition of hard rock and heavy metal. Despite their young age these girls are very professional performers with the Kami Band, and there's no point to compare them to the other current metal bands.

rob zombie turned me on to BABYMETAL. The interview he has done about BABYMETAL and defending them when people try to trash him for liking them or the band it self is AWESOME. I hope to see them in 2017.....Su-metal is the queen of metal and Moa-metal and Yui-metal are the princesses of metal. Would love to visit japan and see them there as well, that would be a epic adventure.

Cryo9 Shadow I understand you point, yet I actually had quite the opposite happen for me. I listened to Babymetal for years never even looking into the meaning of the lyrics of their songs. It was late last year that my curiosity led me to learn about the meanings of their songs. While at first, the translations I found were confusing and at times seemingly meaningless. Then I learned that there is a lot lost in many of the _direct_ translations from Japanese into English because it seems to me that the Japanese language uses a lot of what the English language would call metaphors to communicate with. The English language is pretty direct and straight forward...at least to we that are familiar with it. When I started deciphering the metaphorical aspect of the translations, I found the lyrics for very many of Babymetal's songs to be much deeper than I had given them credit for. Just a long-winded opinion...LOL
+Cryo9 Shadow Oh, I don't know; I watch and listen to a LOT of kpop (Korean pop) and this one song, "All Mine" by f(x) has lyrics that transcend the typical pop song for me, it was a revelation to learn them, I listen to it almost every day now. But you're right that most of them are just pop songs, recycled lyrics; better you don't know...
I was turned onto babymetal by my daughter .. knowing that am very good friends with the guys from loudness .. I didn't hesitate to listen ,, being a former drummer I was blown away ,, and even at 50 yrs old I will just say I fucking love this band ..I love the audiences in Japan they know how to get the job done and party the house down and do it with class.. keep it happenin baby metal you are now my favorite ,, you haven't lived till you seen my 3 year old grandson head banging ,, we love babymetal

Just saw this......I’m an old school metal head who grew in the 80s. I’ve seen and heard em all. This is breathing life back into the genre. I love new stuff, this my new favorite. Baby metal rules!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. I always preferred my old school/classic stuff, but Babymetal definitely took heavy music AND pop to another level (and made a new genre along the way) - there is nobody like them!

When I pay close attention to Su-Metal, I see a sweet caring vibe coming from her. And this from a girl that just turned 18 at the time. She really loves the message and the fans, and it shows. What a rare beauty she is.
I was saying something of a similar nature on FB. Someone made the statement that Su has a great voice and a great stage presence. I agreed, but also added that Su has that very rare and special something of "it"..."it" is truly undefinable..."it" defies description.
Hello Tawnku! When I wrote the first comment, I wanted to describe her vibe as 'motherly', but I thought it might be an exaggeration. Now I don't think so. My feeling is, the highest blooming of female energy expresses itself through the mother. In the sense of kindness, caring and protection. But given that in essence these qualities are dormant in every woman, they can show themselves when the situation is right, and when the woman has no inhibitions about showing them. And I feel that's the case with this wonderful being we call Su-metal. Never mind her age.
Su-metal/Suzuka is definitely the young lady of no inhibitions. :-)

This is a great song, huge fan of babymetal. But it will never be anywhere near as impactful and as strong as bohemian rhapsody. Bohemian rhapsody is essentially the anthem of the western world. Babymetal is but merely a niche.

I think you deserve to know their history so lets start with sakura gaukin that is where the trio first started, where they were making like a show about school girls i think and just how they deal with stuff and one time i think i cant fully remember but i think they made a band and fans of sakura gaukin really loved the band so they turned the band into an actual band creating baby metal

I used to follow a kpop group called SNSD since 2013, SNSD in 2015 debuted a song called Catch Me If You Can... In the other hand Baby Metal have a song called Catch Me If You Can too... So, that's how I discovered this great group... searching for another group's song, but I am totally proud that I discovered this group years ago, I totally like them nowadays

Is it because you don't speak Japanese that you think they sound better singing in English? I don't understand more than one or two words of Japanese, and I can certainly not even read the printed language, but there is no way that I will ever think that they sound better singing in English.
Let me put it another way. There is a little band that you may or may not have heard of. The name of the band is Metallica. This little band had a RABID following. This RABID group of fans were known, in the early days of the band in particular, to turn their backs to the opening bands. Fast forward about 8-10 years. This same band released a self-titled the album that absolutely blew the bands popularity through the stratosphere. Yet there was something about this album that was completely different from the previous albums.
Do you know what that difference was?
They completely changed their sound. ...And Justice For All was, in a way a stepping stone towards the self-titled album. The tempo was a bit slower and even though the songs were still somewhat epic in length, they had a more radio friendly sound overall than say Master Of Puppets or Ride The Lightning.
They abandoned what earned them their rabid following in the first place. After a few completely garbage albums, they tried to go back to a sound similar to their earlier works, and failed miserably. St Anger is probably the worst album that they have ever released. It is so bad that I have only ever listened to it one time.
I have heard some people attempt to defend them by saying that bands grow and change all the time. I agree to a point. I can name a few bands that have been very successful without drastically changing their sound.
AC/DC is probably the best example of a band that is extremely successful without drastically changing their sound. Slayer is another. How about Iron Maiden? Even though they changed lead singers for a couple albums their sound did not change as much as Metallicas sound did.
I will wrap up my comment by saying this. Babymetal skyrocketed to fame for having a unique sound. No other band was doing what they were. It is this sound that endeared the fans to them. If they stray too far from what worked for them, or do not stay true to themselves, they risk alienating these fans. When I first heard about the new album back a few months ago, I told my fianceè that I hope they do not start singing in English because it would signal the beginning of the end for Babymetal.
I sincerely hope that this is the extent of English in their music and that it never appears again in a Babymetal song. If not, it could be the end of Babymetal.
